i didn't see the game, but it looks like we outplayed famu "statistically" except on the scoreboard. at this point in the season, i think our expectations are too high. due to our early season success, i think our opponents are playing against us with more respect than before which makes our games a little tougher. our team has "overachieved" this season, in my opinion. we've been in a position to win every single meac game we've played. couldn't say that last year, nor the year before, nor the year before that, or the year before that. I think MAYHEW will play because he has never beat SCSU . It would be hard to keep him off the field. But I wouldn't give him a full load. i just hope that we can close out the season strong and win our last two games. but at the very least, we've got to beat central! i'd consider holding mayhew out of the scsu game and save him for central if he's not close to 100% this week...

Would not be a bad move to sit Meyhew if we had another back to give Drake a break. But when they both got nicked on Saturday, they shut down the run. And even with that, we had shots. Look we are certainly competing on offense and defense. Where we are not competing is Special Teams. Special teams real,y have been the difference. Two straight weeks, we hit a field goal, and we have a chance to win or tie at the end. If the coach had confidence in the special teams getting it done, we go for a FG at their 28 and not a punt. It's a shame, but it's the truth. The part of the game where you put the least amount of emphasis turns out to be our achillies. We get 2 short punts at Norfolk and they score on both. We give up TD on a kick return at Howard right after we drive the ball down their throat and take the lead. So yes maybe Broadway goes out and gets a couple of backs and receivers next year, but a better buck might be to go and get good players for special teams or coach these guys up

i watched the coach joe taylor show last night and got to see some highlights of our famu game. he stated that he told his guys at halftime that they can't let mayhew come into their house and run all up and down the field like he did in the first half. he said he told his guys to be more "physical" against mayhew. he then kinda "boasted" that his guys put mayhew out of the game.
and then, after they put drake out of the game, he basically stated that he had us where he wanted us because we then became one dimensional. he knew we could no longer run the ball and would be forced to pass.
he also kinda boasted that he wore our guys down in the second half by rotating his players in and out of the game to keep them fresh. i think that's a formula that most meac teams are using against us...

Its worked the last 3 games. We just get worn out. I hate to keep harping on it, but 33 schollys cant beat 50 schollys in a close game. To much fatigue. We have to be up by at least 14 going into the 4th or we will lose.

I don't know about you all but if this is the best the MEAC schools can beat us. Can you ever imagine having 63 scholarship and Broadway getting the super start QB he says he have to recruit.

trues, broadway really has his hands tied this season. if you notice, all season long we've been winning the "time of possession" against our foes because broadway knows he must shorten every game we play due to our lack of depth. that means fewer passes and more rushes. now, everybody knows they have to stop our running attack because that's what our offensive emphasis is.
i think broadway is cautious to really open up our offense because incomplete passes stop the clock and lengthen our games. i think broadway needs to go at least 2 deep on both sides of the ball in terms of scholarship players before we see what a broadway coached team really looks like. that means we need a "minimum" of 44 scholarship players in order to go toe to toe with the top teams in the meac.
one day, i'd like to see us reach the maximum scholarships allowed but we need to get our apr act together before we can do that. then we can start playing those "lucrative" bcs money games that'll go a long way towards financing those schollies.
broadway has his work cut out for him. i just hope going forward that we continue to make progress and don't take any steps backward. if so, we should win at least 6 games and have a winning record next year. especially if we get 5 meac home games which is what we deserve...

Whats the word on the APR anyway . That coach Joe Taylor was sweating bullets . But he was right in his assessment of the game. Make us One Dimensional in a close game and it over, I would have to agree with him on that. Anyway How is Mayhew coming along ?? Will he be able to go this week end??

How is Mayhew coming along ?? Will he be able to go this week end?? that's the big question, saabman. i haven't heard any injury reports on mayhew, but somebody posted that he was booted up and that's not a good sign. we also need to know how drake is doing. saabman, i'm sure you know this is the time of the season when guys really start to wear down. especially our front line guys who play virtually all the snaps in every game. that bye week we had way back in week 3 would really come in handy for us if we had it right now. maybe some of the guys who watch the team practice can shed more light on the injuries. i really would consider sitting mayhew this week if he's not at least 90% ready to go. and then, we'd have to consider drake's status too...

I can imagine it, but let's be realistic. When was the last time we had 63 scholarships and a superstar qb? We've been kind of lucky because the meac as a whole isn't hitting on all cylinders this year. But we will clearly be a force to be reckoned with in the conference in the near future. Right now we're kind of a nuisance to be reckoned with.

We would be hard pressed to get a so called Superstar QB, unless he is a Transfer . We can get the Super receiver/ receivers I can see that. I feel that Kindle will turn out to be a good one when he understands his limitations on his throws. This weekend will be Kindles coming out party if we have no running game. Lets just hope that he is up for the Challenge.
