In my opinion, I think it is very difficult to critique A&T football team's units or individuals when there are needs in every phase of A&T's football team. Breakdowns, miscues and mis-assignments can make a unit or individual look bad and I am sure A&T had multiple miscues on one play throughout the game.
This is a team that currently can only give you 1 or 2 good quarters a game and in some games it may be none. This football program is about good 2 or 3 years away from giving 3 or more good quarters a game consistently, game in and game out.

Thrilla, tell us more about App State's pressbox and did you get any info on how they went about building their pressbox?

My thoughts:
> App has a good QB. He made plays with blitz in his face. I mean Big plays. We were a half of step off of him... we needed a little more speed.
> We finally got a few calls from the refs. But the refs were picking up flags an all...sheesh.
> Our O-Line pass blocked well. Kindle is young, and App were Big but they did not rough him up.
> Mayhew needs this time. They put some hot-sauce on his ankle early and the Warrior kept coming back out.
> IDK why but this game did not hurt as much. A&T figured some things out but could not stop them on 3rd down. Their QB really made some good throws.
> 'You had better get us now' as Funky B said. We will be ok.
> Kindle can throw that rock, they will soon let him go.

i'm really not terribly disappointed with the app state game. i would've preferred that the score would've been somewhat closer, but i knew we were in for a major challenge. over on meacfanszone i predicted that we'd be respectable for the first half but that app state would rotate fresh legs (who are just as talented as our starters) into the game in the second half and open up the game which is exactly what they did.
one of the pluses of the game was that our d-line didn't play so badly after all. actually i thought they played quite well for about one half. secondly, our offense didn't light up the scoreboard, but we did generate over 300 yards of offense against the nations 3rd ranked team. and we had balance, 167 rushing yards and 168 passing yards. kindle completed 10 out of 17 passes, but he threw two picks. i think our offense will be difficult to defend in the meac, but our other receivers need to help miles out (larry raper, where are you?).
this game was a classic case of superior talent and depth wearing down inferior overall talent and depth. all we needed was a touchdown in the first half and we would've gone to half time with a win still possible.
i'm just hoping that we got out of that game relatively injury free. regroup over the next two weeks and we should be ready for coastal carolina in greensboro. i'm encouraged that we'll have a chance to win that game...

oleschool I like your OPTIMISM,BUT we do not have a chance to win vs Coastal;nor FAMU ;nor SCSU;nor COOKMAN;nor hampton- BUT WE DO vs THE REST. I can't believe the folks in here that thought that the Va@Lynchburg WIN gave reasonable "hope" for us vs Appal. State- 2 yrs from now WEKICK that *zzz!!!!! like we did the last time HAYES played them.

I disagree a little with all the games you posted we have no chance to win. In the MEAC if you can protect your QB and put pressure on the opposing QB you always have a chance to win. I was at our game on Saturday and I watched FAMU vs. Hampton on Thursday and I think we can beat both of those teams.....Granted it will take a nearly flawless effort but we can beat them both. The only two teams I believe we really struggle against is SC State and Bethune other than that we defintely have a shot against everyone else!

Agree totaly with you twinsdaddy82. Dont forget the last time Kindle played FAMU they beat us by 4 points in a high scoring game.
Very rarley do I call out a player but Oldescool's correct - Gould and Raper need to provide better support to our QB who is basically a red shirt freshman at lest in experience. Both Gould and Raper need to speed up their level of play.

As I have said before after the TOP two (BC and SCSU) the rest are fair game.

As I have said before after the TOP two (BC and SCSU) the rest are fair game. I don't think A&T will win another game including the Howard game for two reasons: A&T doesn't have enough talent and they don't have enough depth.

I saw that our corners were liabilities in the VUL game. VUL could've thrown on 29 all day had they chose to do so. All they had to do is just throw it up because 29 doesn't turn and locate the ball. So...we have to get pressue within 2-3 seconds or its over. Its a trip...what was supposed to be the strength on defense is the weakness and the supposedly weakness is the strength...WEIRD!

most meac teams don't have a "competent" passing attack whatsoever. even scsu can't pass the football, nor can hampton (though we don't play hampton). so our db's probably won't be exploited by most meac teams.
and i also disagree that we don't have enough talent to win any more games. there's no app states in the meac and as long as we can stay healthy, we'll go toe to toe with the rest of our schedule except for bcu (who actually does have a passing attack) and scsu.
we'll be okay if we stay healthy. and yes, i think we'll have a chance to beat coastal carolina. time will tell...
