i've just got this gut feeling that pizzo is gonna cause problems for opposing meac defenses. i think he's got some very decent tools to work with, so we'll see. hopefully he won't show his entire playbook against our first 3 non-conference opponents and save a few surprises for the meac.
i really think our offense will be in decent shape. now, if we could only shut down the run on defense, we just might have a very respectable season. i'm not too concerned with our pass defense as long as we can put a little pressure on the opposing qb...

As the famous negro poet Oshea Jackson once said ... "Today was a good day". This morning the A&T offense was definitely clicking on all cylinders. Kindle looked great (as usual )and for the first time all week the receivers were actually making some catches. The highlight of the morning practice was a 40-yard pass from Kindle to Larry Raper. It was a frozen rope and Raper caught it in stride. Thing of pure beauty. Mr. Electricity, Miles and the Future made a couple of nice grabs and there was a new receiver out there who has the longest arms I have ever seen. That kid might be getting some playing time this season. There was also one of the new freshman quarterbacks out there today who might have the best throwing arm on the team. He was throwing nothing but tight spirals, however, he looks to be only 5-10, 180 pounds at best. I still can't speak for the defense, but right now the offensive unit is growing in confidence. BTW: The team will have its first two-a-day session tonight at 7 PM. If you aren't doing anything, come out and see the fellas get right. Yeah, I thought they looked good too. I really felt like Kindle was sharp with his passes and the WR made several nice grabs. The FR QB is not big but he is clearly the best QB after Kindle that was dressed. And the lanky WR can scratch his knees standing up. It was a good day and the coaches and players all came off the field up beat.

the coaches and players all came off the field up beat. that means the guys are buying into the program. that's very good news. that positivity will transfer to the fans if they perform well and remain energetic. i'm looking forward to the vul game...

coming from thrilla, a positive outlook says a lot. though its only the offense. but be careful, thrilla. if you say too much that's positive, it'll cause the team to lose football games. (oops! my bad, i was just taking a cheap shot at my boy, monster.) ;D Tooshea my friend, i'll take that one. But the difference is Thrilla was reporting on what they did today, not what he thought they might do. Big difference. Give praise after its over. So nice practice fellas, you LOOKED(present/recent past tense) good out there!

Here's my thoughts from last night's scrimmage:
The defense looks really, really, really small. I don't know how we are going to be able to stop the run this season with the players we have on our roster. The whole unit looks like a bunch of outside linebackers and strong safeties. Teams like BCU might rush for over 600 yards against us.
I am sure our coaches will try their best to scheme around our size deficiencies but there is only so much you can do when your defensive tackles are 250 pounds and your linebackers are 205. We are gonna get smashed in the trenches.
With that said, we might not give up too many yards in the air this season because our secondary is pretty stout. Graham and Ferrell are as good as they come in the MEAC. Unfortunately I don't anticipate a lot of teams wasting time to throw against us when they can just run the ball down our throats.
Offensively, we should be able to score some points. I like the scheme and the fact that they have Kindle looking to throw the ball downfield and not just five-yard sideline passes.
Kindle's looked very good throwing the rock last night, but he needs to work on his timing in the pocket. He held on the ball too long and if this was live action he would have gotten sacked about 5 times. I guess he needs to fine-tine that clock in his head; something he couldn't simulate during his time away from football.
His favorite target in the scrimmage was actually Ricky Lewis who made the catch of night - a diving grab that went for about 20 yards. Wallace Miles also made some very nice catches, as did Larry Raper who is apparently growing in confidence and could finally emerged as the play maker we have been hoping for.
Mayhew didn't dress out but the other running backs all looked pretty good. No. 25 (not sure of him name) probably had the best night of all the backs. He showed some good speed, vision and elusiveness. Drake and Tony Coles had some nice carries as well.
I think the staff would like to have Coles emerge as the top short yardage back but he just seems to tip toe through the hole way too much. He needs to get it in his head that the first defender will not bring him down or trip him up. They also played him at tight end last night where I believe he made a catch.
More info later ...

i think ricky lewis will be a very dangerous threat as a receiver, especially from the slot position. i think lewis more than compensates for the loss of buster cooper. i just wish we didn't have to take an apr hit for losing cooper...

As for a Coopper, fFrom what I gather we would have taken it now or later. If he wasn't in good standing now, then he would have probably not been in it later. Better to take it now and get all this crap out he way.

He was not a bad student on campus as far as grades were concerned.

When Coach Lee got fired I predicted that we would win 0 games this season.
After the spring game, I again predicted we would win 0 games this season.
When we added VUL to the schedule I predicted that we would win 1 game next season.
After seeing Kindle's development this summer and the overall improvement of the offense, I upgraded that prediction to 2 wins.
Now after seeing the defense up close and personal in a live scrimmage, I unfortunately must to go back to my previous prediction of 1 victory in 2011. There is just no way we will be able to beat any real college football teams with our defensive line.

We do not take a hit on the apr with cooper, if he transferred to Tuskegee and his grades are good for him to play there then NO APR HIT!!! (How do I know I asked a CIAA coach & GSU's former AD)....the end!

I'm 4 hours away from Greensboro and haven't seen a roster nor any team practices but based on comments from Thrilla, A1, and others, I can foresee the following possibilities for us this year:
3 High Probability Wins (VUL, Howard, Morgan State) 2 Moderately Possible Wins (Delaware State, NCCU) 1 Slightly Possible Win (FAMU, because we have played them tough the pass two years)
So at this point I see us going anywhere from 3-8 to 6-5, what's your forecast?

I can agree with that AGGIE62. If we play APP state hard I think that will help us a lot. Other then that I'll just let the season roll out. We have more talent then we think we have. In two weeks we will see.
