Aggies Set To Begin Practice www.ncataggies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=24500&ATCLID=205237609Courtesy: NC A&T Sports Information Release: 08/03/2011 GREENSBORO - There is a lot of newness surrounding the North Carolina A&T football team this season. There is new coach Rod Broadway who comes to N.C. A&T after winning a Black College National Championship apiece at N.C. Central and Grambling State. Then there is the new press box going up at Aggie Stadium. But there is nothing more exciting than a new football season. The Aggies report to camp Friday with physicals and meetings. The first practice starts Saturday evening at 4. "I don't know how well we will compete against people this year," said Broadway. "I don't know where we stand. But I do know we've got to get better and that includes everybody, even me." The Aggies are coming off of a 1-10 2010 season. They have five starters returning on offense and seven starters returning on defense. Among the offensive starters returning are first-team All-MEAC running back Mike Mayhew, four-year starter at center Brent Walker and receiver Wallace Miles. On the defensive side, the Aggies return two-time all-conference safety Justin Ferrell and cornerback D'Vonte Graham. Graham led the MEAC in interceptions last season.

I thought we had more than 5 starters back on offense?

Me to. Espically since the majority of the o-line returns. That probably just Broadway doing his thing. If he could get away with saying that we have no returning starters he probably would say that.
But techincally there were probably some lineman that did not start everygame.

am i the only one getting goose bumps? its time to get this party started! the time for talk is ova!! its time to bang heads! are you ready for some football!! sorry folks, no matter what our prospects are, i always get excited this time of year! everytime i sniff the smell of freshly cut grass, i think of football. well alright, coach broadway! show us what you got! time to put your cards on the table!! good luck, coach broadway!! okay, somebody's got to come up with a "nickname" for coach broadway. but maybe we should wait and see how the team looks. you know what they say, a team is usually a reflection of the coach. i thought about going with "broadway rod". you know, as in "broadway joe". but for some reason, "broadway rod" doesn't have a ring to it...

This season is going to be brutal. There is just no other way around that.
Let's hope we can enjoy some highlights during the VUL game because there might not be many more coming after that.
I think our defense will set a MEAC record for points and total yards surrendered.

Bornthrilla: I hope not. If they step up it may not be that bad. They have to learn that the forth Quarter in a close game is the defenses time to step up!! Their were a # of games that we could have won last year but that 4 quarter killed us. We can not have 3 in out and expect the D to be able to hold up in the 4th.

There is not much "stepping up" you can do when you have the worst defensive line in organized football.
Everything starts with the line. When you don't have one you can pretty much cancel Christmas.

Unless Broadway totally pulled our legs, I'm inclined to agreee with BT.

Thrilla is right...but it's not like Broadway to NOT have anybody that can help him defensively. I'm sure the flood gates will open in Boone but that's just second game. But the team will improve all the way to the end of the season. Something our teams haven't done in years. After homecoming, it was no need to play anymore in the past. I think our team will improve all the way to the last game which happens to be Central.

the key to the whole season is the d-line. we're fine with lb's and db's. fix the d-line and we'll have a respectable season. don't fix the d-line, it'll be see ya next year. ain't gone be no more unrealistic expectations. let's call a spade, a spade.
broadway has consistently down played the prospects for this season and rightfully so. the most optimistic statement that i've heard or read from broadway is that he stated that he's impatient. and that's about it. and that's hardly optimistic...

Unless Coach Broadway has several def line suprises - we will give up a ton of points. But as I said before all is not lost if we have a off. that can score.
I look at a different way my key to the season is the off. line. We all know they should be pretty good but can they be dominent ?
Nothing short of some additional beef on the d-line is going to fix that problem. We will probably need to score at least 35 points to win any game on the schedule.

I won't feel confident about either side of the ball until I see an updated roster.
