(PERSONAL OPINION HERE: I think that the head coaches, athletics director, SWA and SID should (in conjunction with local alumni chapters) do a little barnstorming around the state for a couple of weeks during the summer. Hit Charlotte, Raleigh, Wilmington, some place in The Piedmont (it doesn't have to be Greensboro) and somewhere in The Sandhills and mingle with the alumni at an informal function to talk about the State of the Athletics Program. ) lAggie Football Presents The East State Roll Out
Meet Rod Broadway, Head Football Coach.............Lets see who shows up

AggieJazz, "ask and it will be given to you." I will definitely be at the one in Charlotte!! We need to do a better job of getting the word out because I hadn't received any notification. Thanks captaggie! The deadline was yesterday to rsvp for the East meeting in Greenville. How can we expect good turnouts when no one knows about these events?

I agree. I suspect the athletic department is just counting on the local Alumni Chapters to market the event.

Aggie77 posted this same info on BDV back on June 17th. It was also on the A&T website and on Facebook. This info has been out since the beginning of the summer break. I will be attending and I hope all you "Down East" aggies will also be there. We need to show Broadway all the support we can, and it will be a good opportunity to ask some questions and get answers straight from the "horses" mouth. See you in Greenville!!

You gents are always on point. I was talking with a good friend out in California today about A&T marketing or lack off it on the national platform . (I suspect the athletic department is just counting on the local Alumni Chapters to market the event.) Do we not have a Marketing Department that covers all of this. We can not just rely on word of mouth any more. We have to expand and market A&T on a national platform the days of just Regional Recruitment are over! We have to make more of a national statement not only for athletic department but for the over all growth of the University

There were about 60 to 65 people at the event, good turnout. Phil spoke about the new Aggie Athletic Foundation and about alums giving to the Athletic department. There was a woman there that was a NCCU alum who wrote A&T"s athletic department a check (don't know the amount), she gave the check to Earl Hilton AD. She stated that she was so impressed with Broadway when he was at NCCU that she wanted to see him succeed, even if he's at A&T, and that she felt that if she gave all the other aggies in attendance should also give. That was a trip in itself!! The Ad spoke about the overall athletic programs and how we need people to give. Broadway talked about the upcoming season and how it will take some time before we could get back to winning consistantly. He also stated that he only had 33 schollys and that when he finally get all his schollys back the rest of the MEAC and other school better be ready because he (A&T) will be. He also talked about how impressed with A&T he is as far as academics, the overall beauty of the campus and the Greensboro area, and how all of this should help in recruiting. He talked about how he was trying to recruit 2 players from Atlanta right after Grambling won the Black College Championship and how they both ended up choosing A&T even though A&T had not been winning. He felt that A&T itself is an asset for recruiting. He was funny at times and also very serious at time. Overall I would say he was very cautiously optimistic about the upcoming season. The people that were in attendance were not as football savy as you all are here on BDV, so when he ask if there were any questions, he only got 2 questions. Most of them were there just to meet Broadway. It will be a more active crowd when he is in Charlotte next weekend.

He felt that A&T itself is an asset for recruiting... i believe one of those players was aggie qb, lewis kindle. coach lee beat broadway out for kindle. not sure who the other one was, but it was probably lineman, nathan isles. both kindle and isles went to westlake high school...

That is correct about Westlake and they both will be starting on Labor Day weekend on offense.
This school does has an appeal to kids when they visit and with the capital impovements being made on the stadium with the skybox and around campus in general, it will get a lot easier for Broadway. I look for huge recruiting years for 2012 and 2013.

If you compare A&T & MEAC Athletic Facilities with most of the HBCU schools you will find that we are head above heels then Most of them. From what I have seen and trust me the kids see that to and they tell others. Now we just have to establishes a long tenure with the Coaching . Once recruits see that we are stable their they will come.

Our facilities are top notch. It ain't no excuse to be losing to schools with high school facilities.
