Who was the OC when NCCU had that 11-1 season? Asberry Nope it was Rison! 2006 11-1 , that was Rob's last year, Rison was the head coach in 2007. Asberry was already at Shaw in 2006! Shaw U names Asberry Head Football Coach . June 28, 2006

You know it's interesting because good coordinators don't necessarily make good head coaches....I point to both Lee and Rison are excellent coordinators, defensive and offensive, respectively. But, head coach...they were bust. From what I heard (my relatives that are Eagle Club members) Rison is a jerk. So, I don't know how the Aggie club and other alums would handle his personality flaws.

Won't have to. Who was the last o.c. we had that had to talk to alumni a lot?

Word from a few players is that Broadway wants Rison......how valid...I'm not sure....but that was cafe talk from earlier today I don't see Broadway as the type of coach who would discuss his potential hires with the football players, especially players he just met. I see what you mean....but when the question was asked, a player said "He wants the coach from Central.... Rison...." But then again.....its just cafe talk...who knows what is to come...

Well, just making the point that he wasn't approach-able...in their opinion. Whether it was, referring a recruit to just shooting the breeze.

If it is Rison as a OC, and he was a good one, then talk about having a axe to grind with NCCU? that would through that game into the full blooded true hatred grudge match -"loser leaves town" category.

Won't have to. Who was the last o.c. we had that had to talk to alumni a lot? Absolutely correct. The only reason an assistant should come before any group is to be introduced by the HC. The HC does have time to make weekly treks either. I also hope that the AD does not come before the Aggie Club every week to give an analysis of the football game as did his predessor. He needs to spend time in the office working. This venue is a great sight to get good information from people who seem to be connected (excluding me).

You're only as good of a head coach as the staff you hire as we've seen the last seven years. Coach Broadway just take your time and get who you really want and don't just settle.
Not many football coaches ever get carte blanche to do whatever they feel they need to do with a supportive AD and chancellor behind them without interference from above.

You right about POOR, POOR choices for assistants. Lee made HORRIBLE choices w/his assistants. Of course, he didnt have BIG bucks to work w/on his hires but MONEY does not ALWAYS equate w/good decision-making and QUALITY people. NO great football coach can do it all by himself but what makes a football coach GREAT is talent, decision-making and game management, we have been lacking ion ALL those areas for a while.

Outside of his personal salary how much more money does Football have for staff compared to last year?

I wonder who he's looking at for DC... of course it would never happen, but broadway as the head coach and alonzo lee as the associate head coach defensive coordinator would really be a great combination...

Aggie One & aggie2ru,
You guys are dead on. Selecting the right OC and DC is very critical to building of a successful program. It's going to take some patience on our part now. This is a huge resuscitation process for the total athletics program. Especially football!!!

The statement has been made by this administration that they will do and give him whatever he needs to be successful both on and off the field. I haven"t heard a chancellor or a AD at A&T ever say that to any football coach.....ever.
I believe these guys are really serious about going to the top. Now Hilton can turn his full attention to this new AAF and getting a more qualified and competent atheltic staff hired around him with a financial intrastructure in place that makes sense and is actually doable.
