Well I don't know how you do it there.. But we always support our own. Big Rob was a steal for A&T. You all got a HELL of a player and a great kid too. I have never met Ms. Dodd but she will meet my brother, he does not bite his tongue. Rob Russell's father.. Mike Anderson.. I promise you, she will know who he is... SOON! So let's stop placing blame, and get to supporting the kids..! I agree ...let bygone be bygones and support our Aggies....sound like big Rob is already good to go for this season! Seems like Fobbs got a steal with Big Rob but only time will tell. Welcome to the board, coachmike!

Watch out, coachmike. Saying anything positive about Fobbs or Dee Todd around here is like admitting you voted for George W. People on this board hate them like British people hate toothpaste. Thrilla, you know that's a stretch. Most of us have a LOVE/hate, relationship (except for a few stone haters). I'm glad it sounds like uncle and dad are there to help the program. coachmike, FYI, Alexander's Daddy lives on the edge. ;D

I still expect an 0-fer with solid improvement, unless all of coachmike's nephews is coming. That being said I hopes we win 'em all.
Somebody help me out. Who was the middle linebacker last year? Also, I read we're changing up the defensive set this year but I forgot what we're changing it to. Can somebody refresh my memory.
If the new defensive set allows us to funnel the ball-carrier to the middle and this kid and Coach Small's nephew are patrolling the middle our rushing defense should effectively cut the yards by the opposing team in half. Add in the new corners and the defense should be... not embarassing. The d-line and coaching experience are the achilles heels. But provided we continue improving I would expect us to be back to the eight win area by '09.
Slow but steady. I'll take it.

3-5-3 during spring practice. But, he said he was running it because of the personnel at the time, not necassarily a base defense.

By the end of the year Andre Thornton, the freshman from Independence was in the middle. He was the leading tackler on the team. Who knows if he'll move outside, be the other inside guy or move to DE. Listed at 6'4" 235, there are options. The 3-5-3 is an defense predicated based on attacking every gap every play. Your secondary has to be able to play man to man because blitzing is a way of life in the 3-5-3.

Dooms,
He said last week he's not going to abandon 4-3-4. He planning to mix it up through out the game.
He said we make to much out of the 3-5-3. You can line up 3 guys on the line but at the end of the day you may still have 4 guys coming in just like a 4-3. by having a corner or outside linebacker on the ends . Its use to keep the OLs guessing.
Also he plans to have an official list soon of all the recruits he sign up to date. Hopefully it will include those OL we desperately needs and the punter he sign.

Well regardless of the scheme it reads like we have some true linebackers. That is refreshing news.

I tell you what this has been a secretive deal about Fobb's recruits this year...
I surmise Fobbs:
1. Learned to trust no one in his pursuit of quality recruits and transfers. 2. Is still working the clearinghouse to get these athletes through and accepted at T? 3. Was the primary recruiter for a number of big names athletes that went to other schools when at TX A&M, now some of those are contacting him to talk about playing for him. IMO, maybe building an exceptional reputuation as a recruiter.
I am anxious to hear about other transfers/recruits signed.......

Thornton is still the leading tackler on the team and he's on pace for 80 tackles this year. Getting burned in the man-to-man once or twice during the game was to be expected as stated in my post this spring. The defense is also creating turnovers which is a good thing. Open field tackling can still be improved. Offense. The problem is that there is no one on offense that can make the big play and our QB situation is tenuous. Speedy has not yet shown that he can take one to the house either on special teams or from the line of scrimmage and Miller/Morgan is still learning the game.
