I truly hope I'm wrong, but every day that goes by reminds me of the whole Art Shell "hire" and finally hiring Small about two weeks before National Signing Day.

It doesn't matter to me when the announcement is made as long as we get the right person. A couple of years ago Richmond didn't hire Mike London until mid-January and then went on to win the FCS national championship. I believe it was the same thing with Alabama hiring Nick Saban who went on to win the national championship a year later. If the chancellor feels the need to keep everything hush-hush then I see nothing wrong with it as long as we get the right person. .

Decks, you say the same thing every time A&T does a new hire. A&T is always late in their hire and then wait 2 or 3 years to announce they were wrong in the hire.
Don't confuse the Alabama hire with A&T's hiring our process. Alabama was waiting on Saban to state publicly he was going to Alabama.

You're comparing us to 'bama and Richmond? Sheeeeeeeiiii... Those are two of the most monied programs in their respective divisions.

Well fellas...it looks like the forum is going to turn into to the whine and moan webpage from here on. Would you guys be happy if they announces it tomorrow? What would be different for us in knowing now as opposed to knowing in 2 weeks?

Not comparing us to Richmond & Alabama. Just using them as an example. For a closer comparison didn't FAMU hire Joe Taylor toward the end of December? Jazz we aren't wrong because we make late announcements, we're wrong because we hire unproven head coaches who in turn hire unproven assistants. Even with that stated Lee came in and still had a top 10 HBCU recruiting class. As long as we select the right person I don't really care if the process is done in total secrecy and announcement isn't made till February. Just get it right this time.

Well fellas...it looks like the forum is going to turn into to the whine and moan webpage from here on. Would you guys be happy if they announces it tomorrow? It's Friday, Dec 10, 2010. If a decision isn't announced by Dec 16th then I guess it will be done after the Christmas and New Year Holiday. Why make an announcement after Dec 16th (Dec 17th is a Friday) when after that date, people will definitely have Christmas on their minds. I think you would want to make a splash with your announcement of a new head football coach.
It could be that we are looking at mid-to late January when both the AD and head football coach are announced together.

I'm buying that explanation.
Amazing, we can fire folks in no time flat but hiring them takes forever. I'd be happy if we reversed that trend.

The original rationale from the experts was that it was a done deal and two people from Business 40 West were going to be here in 7-10 days. That looks very suspect now.
