Thrilla, calm down! LOL...sheep? That was funny as hell...and the picture. I've said all along before Fobbs we needed a young coach that was easy on the budget. Someone who wanted to prove himself that he belonged. That just may be happening, finally. But, it was almost too late. I'd say Maynor's price has gone up a little when we could've gotten him for pennies on the dollar. Say, I agree with you that this is an Ole homeboy hook-up...at least we know Hayes and Maynor knows winning football in this culture. I will admit that our culture really stinks for a new hire...but, those two are the most acclamated to our culture that you can get.

Besides...who do you want? Nick Saban, Les Miles or Jon Gruden...? Get real.

What suggestions do you have for parents with a player on the team?

So let's say Maynor averages 4 wins a season for the next 3 years. Are we then gonna fire him, Hayes and Martin? This is a never-ending cycle of insanity. Personally, I don't know how much more I can take. You are just now realizing this? It almost brought me to tears when i realize that A&T or any HBCU will never get Athletics right due to our inherit disadvantages and Administrators unwillingness to combat these disadvantages properly with finding and effort.

What suggestions do you have for parents with a player on the team? Make sure he is going to class and are on track to graduate. Strongly encourage them to remain in the program.

Get off the Titanic while you still have eligibility left.
I am the biggest Aggie fan on the planet and I can not in good faith advise anybody, not even my worst enemy's kid, to stick with this program right now.
Not until Chancellor Almighty stands before the fans and explains just what the hell is going on.
There's just way too much uncertainty and instability right now.

Chancellor Almighty is all about "cleaning house" right?
Well then don't just stop with the athletic department employees; go ahead and get you a whole new football team while you're at it.

Thrilla you know everyone from Ohio Sate to Stony Brook starts a national search in words only and 85 percent of the time its 2 or 3 names and its just about getting the money straight before calling the press conference,
I love ya like a brother, but all this yappitty yap back and forth smacks of false outrage about all this transparency stuff. It simply doesn't work that way in college athletics anymore and hasn't in a very very long time and not break the bank.
Let's just cut to the chase - its either going to be Cleve McClellan (AD)and Henry Frazier (FB)from Prairie View or Bill Hayes (AD) Connell Maynor FB) from WSSU. Both proven are potent tandems. The advantage for the PV crew is youth and energy and winning both football and basketball, a lock on Texas football and the DC area and wining SWAC titles in the two big revenue sports in the same year in 2008 and second this year.
As for the local legends, a smart if not shining star of the way of young offensive minded head coach who knows how to coach up QBs, 2 guys who know the state's recruting grounds inside and out and in the face of budget cuts, Hayes can stretch a buck and still finds tons of D-1 talent ever year.
Seeing those are the obvious right off two choices who are interested in being here. either way, Martin comes out looking brilliant in the end with either one because both combinations will win and win right away.
As Micheal Cologne said in the Godfather I, "Its the smart move."

It's not really Maynor or Hayes that worries me; it's Martin's knee jerk decision making and the clandestine way he has gone about this entire process that worries me.
It's the fear that we could be bringing in people who are a whole lot more talented and qualified to take our football program to unseen heights if we only just, for once, performed a legitimate search. That is what worries me.
Haven't you noticed that anytime we try to do something that appears easy we always eventually discover a need to worry.
It was easy for Renick to fire Hayes after he went 4-8.
It was easy for Renick to hire Small to replace him, because he was an Aggie.
It was easy for Renick to fire Charlie Davis because he ate his barbecue with his pinky finger up and wore black and gold on the sidelines instead of blue and gold.
It was easy for Renick to hire Dee Todd because she had the letters ACC in her resume.
It was easy for Dee Todd to fire Small because he went 3-8 two years after winning the MEAC championship.
It was easy for Dee Todd to replace him with Lee Fobbs because her secret crush Doug Williams told her to.
It was easy for Battle to fire Dee Todd because all the alums and coaches told him to.
It was easy for Battle to replace her with Wheels because all the alums told him to, plus he was Aggie.
It was easy for Wheels to fire Fobbs because Fobbs was Fobbs.
It was easy for Wheels to replace Fobbs with Alonzo Lee because that was his boy and he had always wanted to bring him back when Small first got fired.
It was easy for Martin to fire Wheels because that poor track kid died on his watch.
It was easy for Martin to fire Lee because he went 1-10 this year.
And lastly it will be easy for Martin to bring back Hayes and Maynor because they are both Aggie legends and they beat us in the season opener this year.
Yeah, that will be an easy move to make. But is it the best one?

Yes, given our past history, and from a pratical and long term business and win-loss standpoint, absolutely yes.

And I'll say one more thing before I hit the sack.
Alonzo Lee deserved a lot of the criticism he took for the garbage football team he fielded this year, but this was a man of great character who was totally committed to building our program the right way.
I was probably the main critic who voiced my displeasure when Wheels hired him, but I always appreciated his work ethic, his passion for the game, his kindness and his candidness. He came to every press conference and gave an honest answer to every dumb question I threw at him.
All you had to do was meet Alonzo Lee one time and you instantly respected him. You knew that he wanted nothing more than to build a winner at A&T. You knew no one was going to work harder than him to do so.
Yes he made bad decisions but he also made some good ones too. He should have never assembled this inexperienced and unproven assistant coaching staff. However, he was a great recruiter, a proven defensive guru and a fiery motivator. He inherited a bunch of quitters and turned them into a legitimate college football team that could take the conference co-champions into overtime. Last year we had the best home attendance in black college football and this past offseason we signed the top BCF recruiting class. There was great excitement about this program prior to the 2010 season. I honestly believe he had a chance to get things turned around if he was given more than two damn years and some more help from the administration.
Many of you guys were singing his praises this time last year (oldschool, aggie one, aggieborn5, et al) and now you are basically saying "see ya, wouldn't want to be ya".
Sorry, but people don't become idiots or geniuses overnight.
Alonzo Lee deserved more time to do the job he was hired to do. Plain and simple. It's shameful that one of his biggest critics is the only person to see that now.
