Gotta give props to the greatest HS football coach in the history of NC, Tom Knotts. Dude left Charlotte Independence to take over Dutch Forks HS in Irmo SC. A team that went 3-8 each of the last two seasons. In his first season Knotts has them sitting at 13-2 and advancing to the second round of the state playoffs. He also runs the jayvee team and they finished the season at a perfect 11-0.

The school board spent almost $100,000 investigating Knotts and came up with nothing. Indy did lose 3 players who were found not to live in the school district but Knotts had nothing to do with that. The school has to follow up and clear the players first. Quit being a hater. Besides I'll bet there have been players on New Berns squad that have lived outside of the school district.

New Bern’s playoff wins have not been all that impressive. They can’t give up 22 points to Clayton and expect to stop the Hillside offense. If New Bern’s D can manhandle SE Raleigh, then perhaps they have a chance against Vad Lee and the boys. I just want to see a good game, not a blowout.

How many assistant coaches are there for that team? That should be against the rules.

Decks,
Just because he wasn't personally found guilty doesn't mean he's not connected or was aware of this. Besides, the situation speaks for itself. Since the investigation, the program has declined. Any justification? Humm... Now you know we don't have to cheat down-east. You're from the area as well I!

Since the investigation, the program has declined. Any justification? Humm... Now you know we don't have to cheat down-east. You're from the area as well I! In the past NCHSAA rules stated that as long as a family can present documented evidence of residency in a district then kids can play at the school of their choice. Knotts didn't have to recruit because parents from all over the country wanted thier kids to play for him. His standard answer was always if you don't live in the Independence school district then we can't have a conversation. Gator, the program has declined because like Ma Bell, Independence High School was split up. Half the population including 60 members of the football team are now at Rocky River High School. Since you don't think Knotts is that great of a coach please explain how he just took over a 3-8 program and took them to the second round of the state playoffs finishing at 10-3? You're right, I'm from Eastern NC and that's why I know kids have gone to schools outside of thier districts for years. Heck, I did it myself back in the day.

Decks,
Hummm... I now see why New Bern and Kinston were arch rivals. We knew you all would be coming into town with some of that BS. We had to be on our game and with bricks in hand...
As for Knox, I'll agree that he's a good coach. His turning a team around from 3-8 to 10-3 makes me question his method. Shall I say we need to investigate!

Big ups to my Undefeated Hillside Hornets on picking up another hard fought victory tonight by beating Lee County 42-22. This game was packed on both sides and I was happy to be in attendance. Hopefully the Hornets will win next week in Durham so I can go to the State Championship game in Winston-Salem. Congrats once again Hornets from a proud alumnus

It's funny that when the heat and serious watchful eyes were on Indy, Knox couldn't even win the district. Now, he slides down across the boarder and wins immediately. Ummmm
