N.C. State gets $40 million, school's largest gift ArticleComments (0) Friday, December 17, 2010 (Updated 9:38 am) By The Associated Press What do you think? 0 comment(s) Read other visitors' comments and post your own. Be the first to comment on this story. RALEIGH (AP) — A graduate who made a fortune hauling garbage is giving North Carolina State University its largest gift ever, $40 million. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Friday that Lonnie C. Poole Jr. and his wife, Carol Johnson Poole, are giving the money to the school. Chancellor Randy Woodson says the gift is "transformative." Poole is a graduate in civil engineering and founded Raleigh-based Waste Industries in 1970. N.C. State's College of Management will get $37 million of the gift and will be named for him. Most of the rest of the money will be used to build a clubhouse at NC State's new golf course at its Centennial Campus, which will be named for Carol Poole. The couple previously gave $3 million to help build the golf course, which is named for Lonnie Poole. This is serious school pride and how they do it, BIG!!!

The new A&T booster organization becomes active on January 1, 2011 while the Victory Club and Aggie Club becomes defunct.
I have yet to hear how you join the new booster club. So, a new booster club with virtually no members in January 2011.
Who in the hell is doing all of this crazy planning and decisionmaking for athletics?

Well, I got a call yesterday that the next Aggie Club meeting is a week from yesterday at Bryan so they haven't quite thrown everything and every one under the bus .... not quite yet anyway.

Yeah, we've got to much going on right now. I did receive a letter saying my VC membership would convert to the new AAF but not a lot of other detail.

I definitely agree Decks that we have too much going on. Just have to push through it.
To my knowledge, most of the principles involved with the new org are volunteers. Therefore, the development of policies/procedures and executing them will take time. With all the pending changes, I rather they be deliberate than throw stuff together.
So, lets relax, enjoy the holiday season and get ready for a busy Jan!

The Chancellor is scheduled to be in DC on 1/21 to discuss the AAF. We have decided to issue advance questions in hopes that the presentation will cover our concerns and afford the Chancellor the opportunity to incorporate the answers into his presentation. So if you have any list them here. The cut-off date is 1/3/11.
In our last Aggie Club meeting we were told the start of the AAF was pushed to 7/1/2011.

This move makes a lot of sense. There are too many things to get done prior to launching a new organization in which you are combining two fully operating organizations with slightly different missions.

So I would assume the paperwork to halt the dissolution of the VC & AC has been temporarily halted?

I don't think it would be beneficial to have a rapid fire exchange. Plus I would prefer the Chancellor have clear thoughtful responses. Again the cut-off is 1/3/2010.

Did you receive a recent letter from Joe Parker, Interim President, of AAF? It is quite informative, as well as optimistic. Hopefully, the chancellor's visit to DC will answer many concerns and allay much of the fear and worry by many supporters. Change can be difficult, but it can also be a good thing. Let's hope that all of us can forge ahead (with sound intelligent input) and find the change that will be great for our University. We deserve ,as alumni and supporters, to have our University's athletics program restored to that proud level it once occupied. We are entering unchartered waters, so patience, perserverance, intelligence and outstanding leadership will take us back to that level of greatness.

Does anyone know if the AAF is accepting donations right now. If so, how do you give? I don't want to give through the Aggie Club but directly to AAF.
