I couldn't find another smiley face that made it look like I was being inquisitive.
By the way, I wasn't born until 1979 so I don't know anyone from that '75 team but to run for 400+ yards in a game against anybody, you have to be looked upon as one of the best in school history (How did we lose that game???)

The '75 record was 8-3. Now once again, thats just my opinion from having seen both of them run firsthand. And if I'm not mistaken, that Grambling team had Doug Williams at quarterback and Sammie White at receiver. And Lee Fobbs coaching running backs. LMBAO!!! I'm sorry yall I couldnt resist. The man been coaching for 30 years. Go head Coach Fobbs!!!! Wit cha bad a$$!!! I hope you can coach our program back to victory....seriously.

(I'd say the 2000 squad was the best A&T team I ever saw. We had Matkins, Shipp, and Hicks on offense and BJ Little, Ray Massey and that incredible linebacker corps on D.
Only Hayes and his lack of coaching kept us from advancing to at least the second round of the playoffs that year. Still can't believe we lost to Del State and Howard.)
Sammy Rodgers was the other linebacker, Y'all forgetting about D Carpenter he was the fourth LB in the 4-4 defense, D Klugh was the FS. Tamel somebody and Vonkeith Spencer played the corners. Don't forget bout 92 Len Reliford coming off that end. When we lost to Del-State Their star WR caught 3 TD's one man beat us that night. I can't remember the Howard game. Shipp is coaching with his old high school coach Tom Knotts at Independence high.

Let me tell you about that Howard game . Hayes had decided to go with Battle over Matkins at qb. Howard played it close to the vest and dared us to pass. They hit every running lane and Hicks was still on his way to 100, but he fumbled a pitchout. Battle threw a sweet spiral to one of Howard's linebackers. Then with a minute left we throw in Matkins, who hadn't seen any action in over two games for some reason. We lost 17-16. I did meet this fine chic after the game though. As for that Del State game, I've never been so excited in a loss in my life. That was an epic. Correction, their star tight end caught six t.d.'s that day. That's right, Darnerien McCants was playing tight end in the Delaware State wing-t offense and caught six freaking t.d.'s on us. And then Elon shut us out in the mud bowl in our first night game in Aggie Stadium that year. ---------------------------------------------------------- So far the ring of fire includes: 1975 1993 1999 2000 2003 Do we have any takers for '68 or '86? I ain't gonna sponsor them. In '68 I was sperm and in '86 I was at Howard (long, long story).

How could I forget about Eric Farmer Lead blocking for Hicks. He did not get all those yards by himself.
2000 hands down the best team all round. Offense and Defense, Y'all don't remember the D-line was on a billboard That D # was Mad Dogs for real!!!

'86: Hooker to Harbison. They should be in the "fire" somewhere.

I was there in '86. That team wasn't that good. Were 9-3. All three loses were blow-outs w/ us giving up more then 40 points in each game. The good thing about that year is that we went 4-0 against the CIAA (Fayetteville St, NCCU, Wssu & JC Smith) out scoring them 148-36. Oh, we did have have best athlete at qb in A&T history. "Alan Hooker"

Al Hooker was actually the first Aggie player (other than my dad...he played in the late 60's) I truly remember. All I can remember is being a kid at the games and wondering why they were calling his name soooo much over the intercom. All I would hear was "Hooker on the keeper". A few short years after that I actually got into the game as a fan and was able to appreciate the games on a whole other level. Thanks Al Hooker for being some of my first memories of Aggie football.

I've known Hooker since he was a freshmen. This year at homecoming I had the pleasure of introducing my son(10 yrs old) to him. Hooker took time shake his hand and talk a little football and academics with him. Hooker's a good guy. For that reason, I change my vote and say include the '86 team in the "Ring of Fire"

Yeah Al, your stats were outrageous. I think few will argue that you were the best Aggie qb to suit up. Now you've been included in the coveted...

Nah, Carpenter and Klugh left after 99. I think in 2000 Booker Toast was playing at one corner and Horton was playing on the other side.

The first time I saw Mo Hicks run the ball was in a home game against Morgan when he broke a lomg run for a TD. The first thing I said when I saw him run was that this cat reminds me of G. Ragsdale. I don't know which one was the best but they are both in my top two. Ragsdale started for Tampa Bay his first year in the NFL, mind you this was Tampa's first year in the NFL. Mo Hicks should be starting for the S.F. 49er's right now if they had any sence. There were also some good RB's at A&T back in the early 60's, names such as Dicky Westmoreland, Sugar Hart, Willie Pearson(aka, Willie Mohammed) just to name a few. A&T has always had some good RB's and it continues today( "RB U" ).
