A vote for us really old guys - the 1968 9-1 team that won the CIAA championship, broke Morgan State's 30 game win streak, 7-6 on homecoming day at old memorial stadium, beat Jake Gaither's FAMU's team and stopped that 26 game winning streak on the road 9-6 and won A&T its First Black College National Championship.

I was station in Fla. in 68 when A&T beat FAMU, talked big sh-- to everybody down there. Coach Willie Jeffries was the DC for that A&T team. The defence was anchored that year by maybe the best LB in A&T's history, Ralph Coleman who was drafted by the Cowboys as the first black LB in the teams history.

Don't forget that team had All-CIAA Willie Wright, the monster prototype of today's big WR, and All-CIAA Stan Jacobs at QB, probably the smartest guy on the field to play QB at A&T. They were good, reaal good!
We not only had Coleman but big William Wideman, a consensus All-American defensive tackle and the late Reggie Strickland who was all-CIAA playing next to him.
Now that was a defense for the ages.

That '68 team only gave up 80 points for the entire season.

'86: Hooker to Harbison. They should be in the "fire" somewhere. There you have it. This the team have my vote and I have seen them all except the '68 team. Mom is a '55 grad

Yeah aggie one, I remmeber all those players you mention. Willie Wright was a dam good WR( 6'4", 220lbs.). Wideman and Wright both went pro. I don't remmeber who Wideman played for but W. Wright played for Oakland. Reggie Strickland would have gone pro if not for his early death. For those that did not know, Strickland's Fieldhouse(football coaches offices) was named after Reggie. Stan Jacobs should have gone pro if not for the time in which he played QB. At that time it was almost impossible for a black QB to get on a pro team. If he were playing now he would get a shot.

(How did Reggie Strickland passed away) Snake Reliford was Strickland's roommate, Strickland blew his knee out. During surgery Strickland passed away. That's a crazy way to go out!!!!!!!!!! Hospitals have came a long way since those days.

If yall wanna go old school, consider the 1927 Aggie team, unbeaten, untied, and unscored upon until the second to the last game of the season! Outscored opponents by a total of 142-16.
1927 record: 7-0-0 W 20-0 Lincoln, Pa W 25-0 Virginia State W 10-0 Virginia Union W 26-0 St Paul's W 13-0 Hampton W 20-6 Virginia Seminary W 28-10 Shaw

I started going to A&T football games during the last 2 years of Allen Hooker, and was hooked instantly. Just as I sat down at the A&T/SCSU game at Aggie stadium, Hooker put one up and Herb Harbison ran underneath it perfectly for 6. I've been a fan since that day, and bought season tickets the following season, and every year since. My best ever pick would be the team of Allen Hookers junior year. What a great team: A. Hooker, H. Harbison, Anthony Best, Stony Polite, and on defense Ernest Riddick (Dr. Doom).
A few of my favorite Aggie players over the years are Chris McNeil, Demetrius Hairston, Rudy Artis, Dwayne Carpenter, too many to name, but I can never leave out Allen Hooker and Mo Hicks James White Mo Smith Wow, when you start naming players, you really appreciate the talent and great player that wore that blue and gold.

I am thoroughly convicned that Chris McNeil was unblockable. That dude was a beast and would most definitly have to make an All Aggie team if there ever was one....which gives me an idea for a new thread.
