Here is the transcript from today's press conference... Have at it BDF, tell me what you think...
From ncataggies.com
"It is indeed an honor to stand here as coach at N.C. A&T. When I visited here, I felt the love from the Aggie family and they knew I was sincere about doing what needs to be done to win here."
"When you are a coach you are in charge of educating and developing our youth and that’s what I intend to do here."
"In coaching, you have a mission of developing the student-athlete, totally, not only as student, but as a class citizen."
"The game of football is greater than 100 yards."
"In order for us to be successful, all of us, staff, faculty, and fans must be part of a team."
"I love this game, coaching football and dealing and working with our youth and future leaders."
"We have to recruit. We must go out and bring in the best players who want to be a part of Aggie football. I promise you, that I will hire a staff that will come in and coach these players to the best of their abilities."
“I am going to look forward, not backwards. The coaches that were here, they were good coaches and they did what they felt was necessary to get it done. But I don’t believe in looking at what happened in the past, because if you do that, it will slow you up.”
“I know that you have heard of the term “players coach,” and I know a lot of that is going on, but I believe in getting to know the players. I want the player to be able to come to me with any situation, and if he wants to keep it [private], then I will do that. Our coaches will communicate with the players individually and we will build a family atmosphere."
“I want to [start winning] next September. I don’t want to stand here and say that it’s going to take two years or three years…I am going to evaluate the talent here and we will do our best to win now.”
“I have not evaluated the players, yet, but I will sit down and watch game film of every game we played last year and when I talk to the players, I will know more about them athletically than they think I know about them.”

Glad he said "we played" instead of "they played".
I'm thinkin that dude charmed the pants off of Dee (not literally) and she fell in love with his personality. I hope he has coaching skills to match.

I plan to support her decision. But his resume lacks strong leadership. He has never been a OC or DC on the college level.
Now he will be in a duel role HC and OC something that he has never been since High School.

Well, there was a small contingent of Grambling folks that was hoping that he took over the GSU program a few years back. Maybe they saw what Dee saw.
Question: did he wear a suit to the interview, or did he wear a Shine Wyatt shirt, exposing the chest hairs and big rope gold chain?

He wore a suit and the picture is on the NC A&T web site....
I hope Fobb realizes he is the hot seat.....

Hot Seat?? I dont think so. Hot seat is when you got fans AND administration breathing down your neck to produce and produce NOW. This is Todd's man. If this starts out rocky, she will be his biggest supporter and cheerleader because anything else makes her look like a fool. She's the one who picked him. Even if fans will be upset should he stumble out the gates, administration will stand behind this pick (kinda like the Bush administration did with former FEMA director Mike Brown). Bush knew there was someone way more qualified to be the director of FEMA but he wanted to pick someone he knew (his boy). Kinda like Todd said she wanted to pick someone she knew (meaning someone who came from I-A like her). We see how that FEMA pick worked out for the folks in the N.O.
She made this bed, so she's going to have to lie in it. I hope the man does well, but there was nothing about his resume and his experience as a life long POSITIONS coach that said he's ready to head and build his own program. I pray to God he proves me wrong.

New N&R article: www.news-record.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051203/NEWSREC0105/512030309/1022/NEWSREC020502Being a first-time head coach and offensive coordinator on the college level is the kiss of death. He's going to be learning on the job something fierce. And at 165 k he's not going to have long to do it. It just doesn't make sense to me to say "I wanted a football coach who could take us to the I-AA championship game and win it" and turn around and hire this guy. Actions speak louder than words. If she can pull the name of one guy with less experience than this one who came in and even got to the I-AA playoffs I will sign us all up for the victory club at my expense. Her action of hiring someone this inexperienced does not jibe with her words claiming to have any interest in winning the national championship. Frankly it seems like she doesn't know what the hell she's talking about. I hope I eat those words one day. But if that's what I'm expecting to live on I'll probably starve to death.

That's a lot of damn money for someone who is unproven as a head coach or coordinator. I just get the awful feeling that we could have easily attracted a higher-profile candiate if we are paying that much money over four years.

Yeah, you might get more bang for your buck that way...but has the guy you hired ever wore either of those hats before at the college level? Let alone wore both of those hats at the same time? That probably is a better question.

The only teams that I can think of off the top of my head that have "collapsed positions" are (well, were) Elon, BCC, and SC State. The past umpteen national champions didn't do it that way.

You know i didnt want to ever respond on this board but i will address a couple of things. A few of you on this board are absolute idiots. Theres no pleasing you. You will find something to gripe and complain about in ANY situation. People want to complain that Coach Fobbs doesnt have head coaching experience.. well my response to that is.. Steve Spurier didnt either until somebody gave him a shot to make it happen.. oh yeah.. Mac Brown didnt either...No coach ever had head coaching experience until somebody gave them a chance to get it....... Dee Todd was hired to make the decisions within the athletic department...not a bunch of cynics(most of whom probably NEVER played ANY sport of ANY kind)...and who dont support the program as true supporters do. I saw DOOMS say that he may not rejoin the AGGIE CLUB until he sees how things are going to go.. those are the absolute worst kind of people who can be around a program. Your money and support has conditions on it? What kind of support is that.. It aint like youre giving big time money.. (More than $1000).. Thats exactly what our (HBCU's) problem is.. EVERYBODy knows better than administration.. EVERYBODY woulda done it differently... EVERYBODY has the answer.. but yall werent hired to make the decisions Dee Todd was.... so know your role..NOW you are certainly more than free to say what you want.. but if you claim to be a supporter of the program then find something to do witin the program to help better the program so that you wont have a buncha time to stay on here and complain like a buncha cacklin ole hens. Welcome the new coach in and continue to support the program. Dont sit around waiting on coach to fail...embrace the new era and decide whether or not youre gonna help build up the program or constantly complain and act lilke a buncha lil girls ... The TRUE Aggie fans can do without the cynics.. skeptics can be won over..

It's not going to help the situation and in reality my goals for the program are unobtainable. So, I'll just accept what we get and continue to cheer for us. Sorry if I offended anybody. B&G, he took a pay cut? What was Texas A&M paying runnning back coaches?!?
