i leave all offseason moves to coach brown. my judgements are "end results", run your offseason however you see fit as long as your "end results" are satisfactory... Nope, his decision to hire Chris Young tells me he needs all the advice he can get. It takes a village to hire a decent offensive coordinator. lol, indeed he obviously needs help. i am not discouraging others from making recommendations, just that i personally won't try to micro-manage this man's team. heck, if it were up to me, i would've never hired coach brown in the first place. but that's neither here nor there. i don't care to be a part of the asst. coach hiring process, though i'm pretty sure i could've found a better oc than coach brown hired. i do however care about the "recruits" that he signs by signing day. so i will be watching the "recruiting commitments" very closely...

Not a wish but I suspect it could be Winston October the CO..offensive coordinator at University of Richmond. I am thinking that whoever it is - is still playing right now or we'd already know by now. Yes I already know that our process is extensive as well.

Interesting, I was hoping for a former QB We would have to hire a QB coach, Richmond recognized that they needed dedicated coach. Their previous OC played the QB position in college so they didn't require a dedicated QB coach. Richmond has a QB coach Jacob Huesman was hired to lead the Richmond quarterbacks in February 2023 after previously coaching the tight ends at his alma mater Chattanooga. Huesman played for the Mocs from 2011-2015 where he was a three-time SoCon Offensive Player of the Year and holds nearly every offensive program record. An All-America selection in 2015, he led the Mocs to the FCS Playoffs Second Round in 2015 and the Quarterfinals a year earlier. He became just the fourth FCS student-athlete to post 40 rushing (43) and passing (64) touchdowns in a career and only the second to rush (4,051) and pass (8,197) for 4,000+ yards in a career.

Like I said on the podcast, our most important hire this offseason is the QB coach.
It doesn't matter who is calling plays if our quarterbacks are not developed properly.

My first wish is that Coach Brown actually makes an official announcement this week to let fans know that Coach Young is no longer here. Is that a Brown thing or a Public Relations action item? You would think with everything we've experienced over the past few years that department should be fully staffed plus interns lol.

Actually there a ton of former NFL quarterbacks who we could bring in for a reasonable salary. There aren't many people who understand throwing mechanics and the mental aspect of playing the QB position better than someone who actually made it to the highest level of football doing it.

There aren't many people who understand throwing mechanics and the mental aspect of playing the QB position better than someone who actually made it to the highest level of football doing it. I dont think we can afford them, we can get a former P5 for probably $40K- $50K. Prime example is Willie Korn, now Co-offensive coordinator at Liberty. He was a former Clemson QB. Willy Korn helps bring Coastal Carolina’s high-powered offense to Liberty after serving the last six seasons on staff with the Chanticleers. Korn was promoted to Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach in 2019. He assisted the Chanticleers’ move from 5-7 in 2019 to posting a 31-7 record the last three seasons (11-1 in 2020; 11-2 in 2021; 9-4 in 2022). libertyflames.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/willy-korn/1576Willy Korn's Coaching History 2013-16: Charleston Southern (Wide Receivers/Recruiting Coordinator) 2017-18: Coastal Carolina (Wide Receivers/Kickoff) 2019-present: Coastal Carolina (Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks) Dang, he was making $140K at Coastal!!! www.myrtlebeachonline.com/sports/college/sun-belt/coastal-carolina-university/article247232259.html

The QB coach needs to be the highest paid position coach on our staff, other than the coordinators. Our program literally depends on our ability to develop quarterbacks.
If we try to go cheap in that area, we will be destined for mediocrity.
This is a new day and we are trying to overcome a tremendous resource gap with our CAA counterparts.
Can't continue to do business as usual.

Lots of good suggestions. I am not qualified to critique, but more importantly is Coach Brown or our AD are. AD is included because they have to approve the salary. Notre Dame lost a good OC hire last season because the AD delayed on agreeing to the salary the HC had offered the OC candidate.
Broken hiring system can stunt your program growth.

This guy en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winston_OctoberWith what just happened with Young, I don’t know that he’d come. Plus if they want him, Richmond will just add a title to his position and outbid us. IMO we definitely need somebody who’s been a head coach somewhere before. Bonus points if they’ve been and/or have had a successful history of coach qbs. They out there. The hard part will be convincing them to come here.

I doubt we hire anyone from a HBCU. It just seems that we have discounted anything from a HBCU. Brown graduated and coached at an HBCU. Bankins, Henry and Gallon all have coached at HBCUs as well. Coordinators will not come directly from a HBCU. The university is pretty clear on that. The head coaches at A&T will not come directly from HBCUs. Our values are clear.
