We not going back to a conference with 8 schools and no opportunity for playoffs.
Furthermore, each school with money seems to have their own agenda. The conference has no men’s or women’s golf championship and only 4 schools field baseball teams. Yet schools are adding tumbling and wrestling, Y not add baseball and golf?
The new chancellor would be a fool to suggest a move.
Furthermore, a large number of teams in th MEAC will be under APR penalty this spring, nope…we not associating with that.
What is wrong with TSU? They are larger than 85%?of HBCUs!!!

Just what we need. More folks telling us to stay in our lane.
I loved being in the MEAC but imo there was nothing else for us to accomplish by remaining. It was time for a new challenge.....as long as we make the commitment to excel. That's what will differentiate us from TSU.

Chancellor Martin and Earl Hilton promised that they would not have us looking like the proverbial one-legged man in an azz-kicking contest when we made this move.
Thus far, they have not done a lot to alleviate those concerns.
We are pursuing CAA aspirations with a MEAC athletic department and infrastructure. I think that is where the main angst from out fanbase is coming from.

They will probably be 9-2 this year and Coach Eddie George is begging fans not to leave the game after halftime. tsutigers.com/sports/football/schedule/2023

I still don't get this feeling coming from some fans that they just want the comfort of seeing another HBCU on the other side of the stadium. To me it's a bunch of BS, because even when we played anyone outside of central or SCSU (maybe), and this includes them bringing their bands, we still never packed out Truist. We are still getting the same turnouts to games, just as if we were playing Morgan, DSU, or Howard. We have still continued to play NSU and SCSU, so it really doesn't make a difference. The same games that were packed out while in the MEAC are still packed out today.

We are not TSU... I do not understand how college graduates use a sample size of #1 as a legitimate study on a subject lol. HBCUs fans always leave after halftime, the conference doesn't matter.

Since I joined this message board I was always baffled by the straight out "lies" or maybe I should call them mis-rememberings of the crowd sizes at Aggie Stadium AND Corbet when we played the Morgan's, Delaware's, Hamptons(when they joined), etc etc. Anyone not called NCCU and/or homecoming. That or just a perfect storm of a matchup THAT particular season, like the FAMU matchups occasionally or SCSU matchups occasionally. But some of the games in football were very poorly attended. We have ALWAYS had games in a half empty stadium at some point for as far back as I can remember. Dont get me started on Corbett. From the early 90s to now unless it was a Saturday night "hype game" or a perfectly schedule decent matchup then Corbett was a snooze fest.
But lets keep letting people tell these lies of "In my day there was $16 - $18K people there to see every MEAC School". And as someone else mentioned....Tailgates and game tickets have been sold out for a very long time! And my point is not about the actual numbers of the crowd, but the fact that the size of crowds haven't changed since moving conferences. People just in their feelings still.

One that is built to compete against peer institutions from the MEAC, who have similar budgets and resources. If I get some time, I will explain in detail on our podcast this week.

Our Chancellor and board could move money freely without much oversight in order to make things move faster. However, we’re owned ultimately by the UNC System. So until we can garner a private entity with a war chest on the level of a few other UNC system schools, upgrades and hires, and other things we want to see will always move slower than expected, unless we do things that break UNC System rules and can be caught by an audit. And this is regardless of whatever conference we belong too. And also remember for those that wanna go back… We went 0-27 in the MEAC.

These constraints were not part of the sales pitch when we moved to the CAA. We were told by our leadership that we would be provided with the resources to compete for championships in this new league.

These constraints were not part of the sales pitch when we moved to the CAA. We were told by our leadership that we would be provided with the resources to compete for championships in this new league. What I’m referring to is the speed that we obtain all of these items. To be overly technical, we have added money to increase coaches salaries and earmarked money to upgrade the practice fields. I don’t think anyone said that we would have all these items needed this school year. In fact, they’ve said we jumped 5 years ahead of schedule. We have a lot of hurdles in front of our program that they have to jump over. It’s one of the many reasons why I keep saying this is a 3-5 year process. We just need two things: Alumni to pack their patience and up their donations, and Earl to do all he can to fill all the roles faster and finally get shovels in the ground at War Memorial in 2024.
