In our efforts the surrounding communities must be a part of the social equation in terms of the basic infrastructure of a community primarily housing. [/i][/quote] THIS!!! Say it louder for the people in the back! We can't lose sight of this and HBCUs must be the driving force in addressing the social and economic problems that often define the surrounding communities around them. It's OK to have vision, but how can the impoverished Black communities around our school share in some of this "preeminence" that we want for ourselves?

We have continue to create partnerships similar to what’s proposed for the House of Prayer property with homes, food and retail.

Speaking of the House of Prayer, what is the timeline for them to start some type of development on that property?
At some point imminent domain needs to come into effect if they are just squatting on that land.

That's not what I asked. What it the timeline?
They have been talking about developing that land for 20 years now.

About 200 apartments, a full service grocery store and retail shops

Here's mine: - New field turf at BB&T Stadium
- A new set of helmets for football team
- Hire a veteran assistant coach for the football team, with previous head coaching or coordinating experience
- Install 50 inch TV monitors outside the 5 main concession areas inside BB&T Stadium
- Replace the chain link fence outside BB&T Stadium with rot iron
- Improve the bathrooms inside BB&T Stadium
- Start some type of interior construction / demolition inside War Memorial Stadium to replace those raggedy azz bleachers
- Improve the bathrooms inside Corbett
I was told because of the Mondo track surface they cannot have the turf. It would be nice for our AD to tell us what is he doing with the Celebration bowl money in detail not just say its going here and there. There should be some type of visual improvement. I dont know if you all notice but the audio sometimes is horrible on the jumbo Cam. Sometimes you all these strange noise. Sometimes you hear static. I do like the visual underneath the jumbo cam that is a improvement flashing Blue and Gold.

Yeah, I remember the sound was bad on the jumbotron during the Central game. Was really embarrassing during the halftime performances.

Speaking of that:
Upgrade the TECHNICAL pieces associated with athletics in 2020. 1. Consistent live stream (picture, sound, timing. glitches) 2. Stadium sound and video (as mentioned) 3. Social media leveraging 4. Mobile ticketing 5. Continue to improve website content

Why did A&T not buy the old postal property? It is right across the street.
The House of Prayer church has been in a big time stall for developing this property.

Roy Carroll and A&T have a vision and plans for the land, in conjunction with The House of Prayer. When I get a chance, I'll dig into the BOT materials where they spoke about a mixed-use development for the land.

With all due respect if they and it appears that they own it they can do whatever they want to do they are not squatters but rather owners whether some of us like it or not the saying money talk bs walk on by. Perhaps you might need to review the history of The House of Prayer. When I was little knuckle head at A&T a Vietnam vet took me to the House of prayer for lunch and told me this is where you come to eat which I have done since.

When I was little knuckle head at A&T a Vietnam vet took me to the House of prayer for lunch and told me this is where you come to eat which I have done since. They purchased the land in the late 90s for a little over a million dollars, if I remember correctly. A&T leadership was interested at the time, but for some reason we dropped the ball during the bidding process. I too have enjoyed a chicken plate or ten from from their famous kitchen .... but if they are not doing any development on that land, another entity can and should be able to take over the deed from them and start some construction. Eminent domain is a real concept. I have family members who lost their own property near campus because of eminent domain. Twenty years is more than enough time to begin a development project. They haven't done anything but turn that space into a occasional parking lot.
