Mic drop. I dont even understand what else there is to discuss about this topic now. That statement is fundamentally and factually inaccurate. sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/financesLet’s look at facts vs opinions. $25M is all that’s needed...by comparison NDSU budget is $28M and JMU is $40M. La Tech budget was $25M and they are a good FBS team. Thank you for providing accurate information and not a lot of speculation!

The arms race is not going stand still for us. We'er going to have spend more just to get even. In five years we will need $50m to sustain FBS level program in a reputable conference. Don't forget we would have to add more sports. When you step-up you have to be ready step-up. Maybe we should just double the student fees that would get us another $8m. Or we could double the contributions and fly the team to Tally this year. I wonder what the bus ride to Arkansas State and Texas State is like for the tennis team. Additionally we only need to add one more sport in which the school already had plans to do. Why do you guys think we are adding sports, we didn’t have to bring me s tennis back or start a men’s golf program, we could have invested that cash in revenue generating sports. The chancellor and AD has slowly been making moves to put us in a position to go FBS if they decide. There is also an arms race in FCS football...Alabama state has a hell of a stadium, Tenn State has an indoor practice facility, JMU spends $40M. Heck guys we just built a new skybox and are looking to build another structure with offices, suites and training rooms. Additionally we are getting a new track, have faith that our leadership will make the right decisions. If you guys are happy with being in FCS and not winning a National Championship that is fine. It will take how much money to be legitimate FCS title contenders? Since you all worship NDSU and their program the answer is $28M annually. Personality if we are going to spend $28M we should be FBS, at least in FBS they get paid more by the conferences and are on national TV in primerime hours. How many NDSU games outside of the playoffs dontou see on TV?

I like all the daydreaming and grandiose plans but until we can raise a whole lot more from ticket sales and alumni giving, we aren't moving up nowhere! Sure we are kicking a few butts at this level in football but unless we add more big "play-for-pay" games, we ain't going to the next level.
You guys keep tossing around App State and NDSU but I bet if you check their attendance and alumni contributions, they were packing in the fans all the while they were winning. We're winning in front of a half empty stadium and only modest alumni giving.
Here's an idea... for the next 5 years while we are dreaming about moving up, let's also concentrate on selling out our stadium for 3 or 4 games and raising a few million dollars for the AAF. Now that's how you move up to the next level.

Great info Aggie 77. One point the travel for those non major sports is not as brutal as you think. My niece plays volleyball at App State. I assumed she would have a couple plane rides and some brutal bus trips. Some sports do round robin conference play as example they flew to Texas State but played several conference games at Texas State against Troy, & the Louisiana schools. They played round robin conference play at Georgia State. I think the only really had one long bus ride to Alabama

We would have to remove the game zone to build the fan base to be able to sustain an fbs program. 😂😂 yall know im going to say it..
My question is not whether we can do it, #AggiesDo these kids are winning world records and throwing footballs in endzones. We can do anything..but why. The only thing you can hope for at lower fbs level is a bowl game. We are already doing that and our bowl game is better and bigger than the bowl game App.State plays in New Orleans. Im not sure the difference in payout but i dont think they got 17k people to the game.
Our brand is bigger than most fbs lower level teams right now, including App State, despite what you heard. However im not a naysayer if the school wants to do it im behind them 100%. Why not..the goals are exactly the same. Postseason bowlgame.

Our current athletic department is built on the backs of the students, not corporate donations, not sponsorships, not alumni giving, not ticket sales, on the backs of the students. I'm not even sure I agree with the $2.2m in School Funds being used for athletic purposes. How many STEM scholarships is that a year? To be honest, if the choice is between another 100 black engineers (or any discipline using the School Funds line item) wearing blue and gold robes in May or seeing us on national TV in primetime at La Tech, I don't give a rat's azz about TV. How many national primetime LA Tech games has anybody watched lately? If you want to put money in a sport, put it in Mens Basketball, that were the real money is, and it keeps on giving year after year.

Our football brand is not bigger than App State. Some of yall need to get out more.
App State was ranked in the FBS top 25 last year. They once won 4 FCS national titles in a row.
They average about 25,000 in attendance every single year.
They currently have 14 players on NFL rosters. We currently have 4.
I love A&T football as much as anyone, but lets please try to keep things in perspective.
