wow, weird seeing this posted on onnidan "before" seeing it posted on bdv... www.journalnow.com/sports/wssu/ram_ramblings/ram-ramblings-andrew-brown-former-wssu-assistant-lands-at-n/article_cb7ad9a2-976b-11e8-ba6c-6fc6d0311905.htmlAndrew Brown, former WSSU assistant, lands at N.C. A&T JOHN DELL Aug 3, 2018
Andrew Brown, who was an assistant basketball coach at Winston-Salem State, has landed at N.C. A&T as an assistant. Brown, who was the interim head coach of the Rams after James Wilhelmi’s contract was not renewed after last season, had been at WSSU for three seasons. On Twitter Brown announced his new position and is looking forward to helping head coach Jay Joyner. Last season the Aggies went 2015 and 11-5 in the MEAC. They also went 12-0 at home. “I am grateful and truly humbled for the opportunity to join North Carolina A&T as an assistant coach,” he said on Twitter. “Thank you Coach Jay Joyner. My family is excited about joining N.C. A&T.” Brown was among the finalists who interviewed with Chancellor Elwood Robinson when the search for a new head coach was underway at WSSU. During the transition time Brown, and fellow assistant Paul Davis, did a nice job of keeping the program going with off-season workouts and study halls. Davis, a WSSU alum and the all-time leader in blocked shots in school history, was also not retained by Coach Cleo Hill Jr., who was hired to replace Wilhelmi. Hill has not yet announced his assistant coaches and said earlier this summer he was hoping to be able to hire two coaches.

thanks, a1. but unless i'm missing something, that article referred to the hiring of dorsett and the promotion of jones to associate head coach. but the above article refers to the hiring of andrew brown who was an assistant at wssu last season. looks like joyner's staff has been completely shakened up this offseason...

A1 was referring to this post in that thread. bluedeathvalley.proboards.com/post/2101862 of the 3 coaching positions changed. Coach Jones moved back to the associate HC role he had before Coach Agostino came in last year. I like Coach Jones in that role with another year of growth last year. The entire is pretty experienced but still relatively young, which is a plus. I think the big keys for our squad is that we have experienced lead guards who got a taste of what it was like to win and are willing to push the squad in practice to get there. When you have coaches on the floor... it's a lot easier for the coaches to coach on the sideline and in practice.

But I don't have any issue saying that Coach Brown's experience gives a bit more depth than Coach Butts and is a likely upgrade on the court.

I have heard that Coach Brown is a worker. So I think it may be a upgrade. Coach Jones is the key. He’s probably the best recruiter in the league. And I have heard that the former High Point coach is a great recruiter also. I’m excited to see this years team.
