man, some of ya'll are letting our undefeated season go to your heads! and our top 10 fcs ranking don't mean "squash" to me other than the national publicity we get. but i honestly don't think we were amongst the best 10 fcs teams in the country last season. sorry, but i ain't buying it. yes, no doubt we were the best hbcu in the country last year and we proved it! but that's a far cry from being a top 10 fcs team. imho, we're not on that level yet. i don't want no unnecessary "L's" on our record, especially since we're breaking in a new head coach... You can call me out specifically because I definitely feel we were a top 10 team last year and we will be one next year if we play Jacksonville State because we will beat them and play ECU close. We will have a QB in the running for the Walter Payton Award in Raynard and we will continue to have players getting NFL looks, just like Jacksonville State and other top 10 teams. You ain't no slouch if you go undefeated and our players and coaches know this. Besides, Coach Washington and the staff have the experience and wisdom to go about the next 6 months to prepare for Jax State and ECU to not lay eggs in either game. And from what I see from players on social media about this potential game, they still have a chip on their shoulders. They're sick of people who feel they can't complete with the big dogs of FCS.

Now when we play an FCS playoff-caliber team, he's bitchin' and moanin' like nobody's business.......seriously, dude - you flip flop more than the commander in chief. Again, when you compete against teams.......you win some; you lose some.......that's life in general. Somebody explain to me what the downside is in playing this game?? ?? We don't play Amos n Andy football......we play a good brand of football; ain't nobody on this board scared (except for YOU) to compete. You look piss weak on this one....

That's always been the defining difference over the years. But, I have confidence that both our players and our coaching in that area have been upgraded and that we will be OK in that area. When I looked at how Parker fared in the senior bowl, I know that he had prepared well and so will this year's crop of linemen. And Raynard has proven his worth against FBS competition. Bring it on! This is a new day.

Oldschool, you sound shook right now.
I'd be damned if I ever ran from a chance to play another FCS school, especially in front of a nationally televised audience.
In my opinion, this is no different than when a top 5 ranked Coastal Carolina team came to Greensboro a few years back and we almost beat them with Quick at quarterback.
Any given Saturday ...

This is an interesting topic...and I already posted how I feel, but I must say it again because I really feel like if you asked the average Aggie fan...not the diehards on this board about playing JSU their first thought would be Jackson State.
Winning matters, but playing games and winning against teams the fanbase cares about is what puts butts in the seats...and in all honesty I gives a damn about Jacksonville state or traveling to Alabama.

Meh... most of us won't travel to the Gump; just diehards and those who live in the ATL, like me. Others will tune into ESPN to watch. Our name will also get other HBCU fans to tune in, because we are the defending HBCU champions. BTW... Jax State has a very good band.

That's a lot of time to prime the pump for a road-trip. But the biggest multiplier might be HBCU fans in AL, MS, TN, GA and SC who will drive to sit on the A&T side because they're nothing else going on in August. A quarter of the local ASU/AA&M fan base might be there by themselves. This thing has potential.

That way, we can start pumping it up to the Alumni group. We gotta plan early for travel. We'll potentially have up to 3 trips for out of state Aggies this football season (FCS Kickoff, GHOE, Celebration Bowl). Tack on the Alumni Convention in the A, and the MEAC Tournament, that's plenty of travel for Aggies in 2018.

Is their fight song still "Dixie?" They played the hell out of it when we played them in the mid-90s.

Google Jacksonville State Dixie. They were playing it just last year.
Personally I don't give a isht. I was just curious. They probably wouldn't play it while playing us anyways due to political correctness.

They probably wouldn't play it while playing us anyways due to political correctness. I believe the last time it was played in the stands was at Ole Miss in 2010. 2012 was the last year it was played at an alumni function. Most old time members miss it because it is a really fun piece of music to play. The woodwind parts at the beginning are quite intricate, and “Dixie 2” where the full band comes in fortississimo is awesome... but we recognize the history associated with the song, and shelved it. Our band program recruits nationally, and is racially diverse. Continuing to perform a piece that has been vilified and makes some people uncomfortable doesn’t make sense. While a song or a flag are not inherently evil, the association with evil is enough to say enough.

One of my best friends is s TSU alum. He's a big TSU supporter and has stopped attending that game. Their fans broke the TSU flag off of his car. Also said the flags fly freely. Touchdown, bring it back holding. Good defensive play, pass interference.
Remember the TSU coach going public with his complaints about the officiating in the OVC last year.
