Hey, a lot of FBS schools do that with non-rivalry teams. A few years ago, Oklahoma came here to Tallahassee to play Florida State, and FSU made them pay for the 500 seats. With the close proximity of the two cities (Greensboro and Charlotte), I could see UNCC doing that. They will embarrass the 49ers' band. I get it, but UNCC is not FSU. Plus FSU vs Oklahoma is a prime time match often with national title implications, scalpers must have had a field day. I am pretty sure we will be thick at UNCC, but I will be surprised if the game is a sell out. I think that the game will sell out...or be very close to one.

EXACTLY...that's my point!! Yeah... Charlotte needs every seat paid for. It's not like UNC with 63,000 seats and a massive TV contract. It's no big deal to comp the band for them.

I get it , i just think this should have been discussed during the contract negotiations. Band for free and 10 mins at the half should be mandatory

Not really, but its still funny(and possible).

It could be a mute and expensive play for us anyway if UNCC has the refs mute the band.

Do you feel the same way concerning contracts with all (and not just a select ONE) CIAA teams coming to Aggie Stadium??

Because of us or them?

Because of us or them? A combination of both, IMHO.
We will show up in droves because we support this team, it's a very winnable game, Charlotte is probably our biggest hub of alumni and supporters outside of Greensboro and the game is only 90 miles from campus.
They will show up because it's a home game (their home opener, in fact), it's following their beatdown at the hands of Kansas State a week earlier and they feel that they should be able to handle us with no problem.

Well...since it makes no sense for a band to "Pay to Play"......where can I buy a cowbell?

When you consider the seats allocated for season tickets and students seating there will probably be no more than 4,000 available for sale. There's no way they are going to give a chunk of that up to the visiting band. Besides Charlotte still remembers that 2011 WNIT game where we outnumbered them 2-1 in Halton Arena. The pep band came and made it one big Aggie party! Lol, they ain't about to let that happen again.

Charlotte's game versus us is also during their Family/Parents Weekend. I'm not predicting a sellout but the ingredients are there for one (first home game, Saturday night, Family/Parents weekend, strong Aggie alumni base, 3 year old stadium). If the weather is favorable, selling out is not out of the question.

As my name implies, I'm into "marching bands" but I understand why UNC-Charlotte would ask for the A&T band to pay. They have a very large student base, a lot of corporate and individual season ticket holders and a dinky 15,000 seat stadium. They will sell this game out quickly just because it's early in the season and a lot of their folks will want to see their team steal a "win." Plus a lot their fans and ours will "assume" they will see a fantastic halftime show from the world famous Blue & Gold Marching Machine...so they will show up too.
By the way, I did see on some Blue & Gold Marching Band internal planning material the UNC Charlotte show but this may have changed. I'll show up, with or without the A&T Marching band but it sure would have been nice to "pimp slap" them at halftime too!
