NORFOLK, Va. – Florida A&M quarterback Damien Fleming and Norfolk State wide receiver Isaac White were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Bethune-Cookman cornerback Thomas Finnie was named Defensive Player of the Week. Norfolk State quarterback Terrance Ervin earned Rookie of the Week honors while Morgan State’s Clarence Swain was named Offensive Lineman of the Week. North Carolina A&T’s Cody Jones was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Jones (K, 5-11, 136, Gastonia, N.C.) was a perfect 4-of-4 on field goals as he connected on kicks of 32, 28, 29 and 43 yards out. He also nailed 3-of-3 extra point attempts and punted four times for an average of 53.2 yards per kick including one inside the 20 yard line. His longest punt went 62 yards. I'm glad he made his 4 FGs.....but I gotta see more TDs in the red zone, versus FGs (and turnovers). Nevertheless, his performance is to be commended. His foot will be crucial down the line (ie. the playoffs)!!!

That punting style is very effective, will bounce miles down the field and goes very well with our speed. It creates ball handling issues for the return team, and a desperate return man at some point will eventually touch it giving us a chance to take it away.

Dude, did you even take time to read my entire post? ? It's only 3 sentences....... 1st sentence was a diss 2nd sentence was a halfhearted compliment "nevertheless" 3rd sentence had nothing to do with the thread What are you guys reading? How am I dissing Jones? Let me break my own words down sentence by sentence....... Sentence #1) I'm glad he made his 4 FGs.....but I gotta see more TDs in the red zone, versus FGs (and turnovers)...... THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH JONES. THIS IS ABOUT THE OFFENSE STALLING IN THE RED ZONE. JONES HAD ZERO CONTROL OVER THAT.Sentence #2) Nevertheless, his performance is to be commended...... COMMENDED MEANS "TO PRAISE FORMALLY OR OFFICIALLY"Sentence #3) His foot will be crucial down the line (ie. the playoffs)!!!...... THIS SENTENCE IS ALSO SHOWING PRAISE. I THINK JONES IS SO IMPORTANT, HE WILL PUT UP VALUABLE POINTS IN THE FUTURE. THIS SENTENCE IS ALSO PRAISEWORTHY FOR THE ENTIRE TEAM BECAUSE I THINK WE WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, WHERE EVERY POINT WE CAN MUSTER WILL PROVE VALUABLE.....INCLUDING THOSE POINTS FROM OUR KICKER
Why are some of y'all acting so damn sensitive......and for nothing???

Sentence 1 wasn't a diss at Jones, it was a slight to the offensive coordinator. Like you stated it had nothing to do with Jones, so why state it? Sentence 2 states even though the offense sucks, you did good. It's like you telling your wife "you look good in that dress. I can't even see your love handles"

Nss, it's not about us being sensitive. It's about you complaining and throwing jabs at every opportunity.

bluehaze, You are being sensitive......I gave Cody Jones his props. You often don't hear of kickers in the MEAC kicking and making all 4 FGs. His foot will prove valuable as this season moves along (as I said before). However, the major reason why he got to be the special teams POW is because our offense repeatedly faltered when we got inside the 20-30 yard line in Dover. AGAIN, THAT AIN'T CODY JONES'S FAULT - HE DID HIS JOB AND KUDOS TO HIM..... Chew on this - would you rather have Cody Jones kicking 4 FGs or 4 Extra Points? ? Feel free to keep it real sensitive......but I speak the truth. Again, much props to Cody for hitting all of his FGs in a very windy, drafty Alumni Stadium this weekend.

Again nss, you are missing the point. This thread is not about the offense, it's about the special teams player of the week. Players make all conference, all American and pro bowls for making kicks. The extra commentary is unnessecary.
I swear you are Marcus from Boomerang looking at Lelah Rochon's feet...

Does someone know Coach Broadway's phone number or e-mail address?? If so, give it to bluehaze so he can echo the same criticism to Broadway.
Broadway's statement after the game (http://www.ncataggies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=24500&ATCLID=209724298) “Making field goals are good I guess. But I’m hoping we can start scoring some more touchdowns,” said Broadway.
Damn, I never thought of myself looking or sounding like either Eddie Murphy or Rod Broadway. I guess we're all 3 brothers from different mothers.
