but bluehaze, the fbs just started to have playoffs this year and only 4 "total" teams are eligible for the fbs playoffs (actually bcs playoffs). yet, the fcs invites "24 teams" to the playoffs and every fcs conference has a seat at that table. not so for fbs teams, so fbs teams have no other choice but to go to bowl games. bowl games are a long time tradition for fbs schools, not so for fcs schools.
to me, there's a lot of differences between the postseason for fcs teams versus fbs teams. however, you're right, not all fcs playoff games are televised. but everyone of them are streamed live on espn3 where lots of diverse audiences view the fcs playoffs. certainly opposing pwc coaches and fans view the majority of the playoffs.
bottom line for me is that i don't want to "solely" be known as only an hbcu. but don't get me wrong, i'm very proud of my hbcu heritage and i'm not ashamed of being known as an hbcu. however, that's not the only thing i want to be known for, i don't want to "limit" our name to hbcu's only. i want a&t to sit at the same table as all other fcs programs. i want our "academics" to be recognized along side of pwc academics. to me, when we "isolate" ourselves from pwc's entirely, we lose exposure and name recognition amongst pwc's for our academics too, not just football. when you have engineering and technology schools that's on par if not exceed that of many pwc's like ours does, you want to align yourselves with those pwc schools and strive for the same national name recognition as they do.
and dude, how can you not know about the fcs national champs, north dakota state? they were all over the sport news this weekend for blowing out "bcs" big 12 foe, iowa state. i betcha almost all fcs pwc's have heard of north dakota state. them boyz have literally "beatdown" about 5 or 6 bcs teams in a row over the last several years...
