All this being said-NOexcuses now for half of season COLLAPSES with Spring Practice, full# of scholarships, better 2014 recruits (as many of U attest to)And Superior COACHES. Remember.... it takes one or two years to see the average signee on the field. We can't expect to be in the championship just because we have all of or restrictions forgiven. It takes time to build a team that lasts. If we allow the coaches to do it their way, we will have a program that competes for years not one year. Becoming too aggressive leads you back to having restrictions. I will keep saying this. When Broadway recruited my son, we had visits scheduled to Coastal, G Web and a few unofficial visits. After visiting A&T, he didn't want to go anywhere else. Coastal's coach called three times during our meeting that Sunday when Broadway made the offer. Don't sell A$T short. They put on a good show when the recruits come up. The history if above all is phenomenal. We came up and signed on Feb 2. That is a historical date and it happens every year around signing and recruiting. We are on the way up. Not already up. Please fasten your seatbelts..... Thank you! We would all be wise to soak in your last sentence!!

IT IS GREAT TO SEE THAT AGGIES HAVE COME A LONG WAY IN THEIR RECRUITING PROCESS. A BIG DIFFERENCE FROM A COUPLE YEARS AGO.

Great thread!
I'm thinking the following:
1. Hayes coaching in today's environment = Lee. 2. People from Grambling said that Broadway "couldn't recruit." By Grambling standards, he can't. I said it then and I'll say it now, I don't care if he can recruit. Can he take what he gets and win is what I want to know. So far so good. 3. Hayes, for all his ability to recruit talent, usually lost a game or more that he shouldn't have and always had his best seasons with senior-heavy classes. I expect more of the same with Broadway, but I expect myself to be much more tolerant this go-round than I was in the past. 4. Sizes and weights don't play on the field. Some coaches and most fans forget that.

I'm just gonna be honest...I haven't felt this relaxed about our football program in a long, long time. Before, I talked a big game and hoped for the best. But now, it's a different feeling, I can't really explain it but, I don't have to see 25-30 recruits to know we are going to be decent this year. I'm loving it. Does anyone know when spring football kicks off???

i’m almost as excited to have spring practice as i am for the next season to start. not having 2 consecutive spring practices really hurt the team in terms of coaching guys up during the offseason.
since we have spring practice this year, bustle shouldn’t have any problems indoctrinating the team to his system for this upcoming season. and glad “the phenom” is already in school and will partake in spring practice, should help a lot as far as getting his timing down. and i especially hope our guys will compete in a “7 on 7” league somewhere during the offseason, i think that helps a lot too...

I respect what Coach Hayes was able to accomplish with Aggie Football during his tenure. That said, I've also had conversations with non-engineering professors who were around doing the Hayes era. The difference between the Hayes approach to academics and Broadway's approach under Hilton is miles apart. I honestly don't believe that Hayes could have functioned as well as a recruiter under the APR environment. I believe that academic piece (aside from money) is one of the big reasons that WSSU moved back to Division II. And with APR headed to DII soon.... it won't be long before Coach Hayes retires from WSSU, IMO. Well.... I didn't realize it would be THIS soon, but the end result is what I thought it would be. Coach Hayes appears to be out as AD. Something is up for him to leave this early, though....

I wonder if the athletic relationship between A&T and WSSU played a role? Us deciding to play Chowan had to hurt.

Are you all saying that Hayes is out at WSSU or am I mis-reading this?

Sounds like a scandal that popped off...boy, I tell you! We can mess up a wet dream...now, what in the world happened? Sounds like WSSU reign will be over soon. Senseless...

There is some talk that there was no scandal, but that he had enough and simply retired (age 70 had enough).
