Half of the time these kids lie about which schools just sent them a letter in the mail and which schools actually made a formal scholarship offer.
I know a kid in my neighborhood who has gotten "hey, we heard about you at a camp last year" letters from Arkansas, LSU and Georgia. But so far the only offers he has received are from University of Phoenix and Devry Institute.

Exactly my sentiments about the "offers" to Jackson. If all or most were legitimate, why is he at Gardner-Webb? "The letter in the mail" sounds more plausible.

durham, i've got to be honest. nccu has always done a far better job than us when it comes to internet, marketing, media, and radio productions. they run circles around us, and always has. that's the only thing they do head and shoulders better than us. i mean, i won't even try to compare what we do to what central does. but the good news is that we are getting better. we're still nowhere near central's level, but we're better than we have been in the past. i don't know what it would take, but i'd do just about anything to bring our internet/marketing/radio productions up to or exceeding central's level. internet productions go a long way to promote your athletic programs and fundraising efforts. it is especially useful to athletes' families and out of town aggie alums who by virtue of technology can stay in direct contact with aggie athletics on a daily basis. i live 5 hours away from greensboro, but thanks to bdv and ncataggies.com, i almost feel like i know aggie players on a personal basis...

With that list of schools recruiting him, why is Willie Jackson at Gardner-Webb??? I figure(I could be wrong) that he was recruited by those bigger schools, i.e. they sent him mail or their coaches might have contacted his coaches for more info. Some may have even offered him a chance to walk on. I figure the schools that actually offered him a scholly were Gardner-Webb, Samford, Alabama State and Alcorn State. The latter three were the ones listed that he actually "chose Gardner-Webb over."

Eastern Alamance's Wilson chooses N.C. A&T By Conor O'Neill / Times-News Published: Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 00:50 AM.
MEBANE — Malik Wilson figured himself a basketball player. Well, until Eastern Alamance receivers coach Mark Talley saw the speedster running on the track. “Coach (Mark) Talley was like, ‘Do you play football?’ I was like, ‘Naw,’ ” Wilson said. “He was like, ‘Well, you’re going to now.” The rest, as the saying goes, is history.Well, until Wilson continues his career at North Carolina A&T. Wilson signed with the Aggies on Wednesday, capping his unlikely journey to the top of the record books for Eastern Alamance. Wilson caught a school-record 15 touchdown passes in his junior season and had 25 career receiving touchdowns, also a school record. Cards' Siders signs with N.C. A&T football By Chris Miller-Prep Sports Writer/The Daily News Published: Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 08:30 AM. Tyshaun Siders is certainly not lacking confidence, which is a good thing given the Jacksonville High senior is a defensive back. And Siders’ self-assurance doesn’t waiver when he talks about what he hopes to bring the football program at North Carolina A&T, an NCAA Division I-Football Championship Subdivision team in Greensboro. He said he will receive academic and athletic financial aid. “I’m a pretty good defensive player,” he said. “I can get picks and take them to the house. When they put the ball in the air, and if it’s a fade route, most likely it’s going to be my ball because I can outrun the person I’m guarding.” For the rest of the story: www.jdnews.com/sports/local/cards-siders-signs-with-n-c-a-t-football-1.273107

We've all run across an athelete who received a letter of inquiry or curious interest while really eyeing another player on that team. I think schools use those those "mild interest" letters or contacts to promote their program by " saying look who chose us over those major programs" even when there was no real interest.

oldschoolaggie the kid that is going to unc how did he look compared to our superstar cohen? unc's hood is a different type of runner compared to cohen. hood is bigger and more physical than cohen, and probably just as fast if not faster. but new recruit (cartwright) is a lot like hood in terms of running style and physical build. cartwright is built almost just like hood and runs hard like hood does. but there's something about hood that sets him apart from our guys. hood got most of the carries in the shrine bowl and justifiably so. there's no shame in playing second fiddle to hood, hood is one of the top running backs in america that's coming out of high school this year. unc is "lucky" that they got him. i mean, you don't get a full ride to alabama and notre dame by accident. hood is the truth! that being said, i think our folk are really gonna like cartwright. he's a poor man's version of hood and i see him having major impact as a true freshman. he's the perfect "change up" back to compliment cohen. i like that cohen and cartwright have different running styles, but both are very effective and they will complement one another. there will be no drop off when cartwright back ups cohen. and now that we've got foster along with a very viable compliment of receivers, this should be a good offensive year for us provided that the "big uglies" up front uphold their end of the bargain... Should we think PONY EXPRESS (Dickerson and James)
