What about SU's former AD? His contract was not renewed. He might be someone to take a look at. I know he did a fairly good job with getting SU some regional t.v. deals to cover football and baseball. They are also renovating their stadium and someway or another they are paying Coach Richardson over $200,000 per year. He had to be doing something right.

Coach Eaves appeared on last week's Aggie Sports Report with the "Handsome One" Billy Covington. There Coach Eaves mentioned that he thought he would be signing a 6'4" point guard and another guard who led the nation in 3 pt. shots made. I believe the latter was from out of Atlanta.
He also made mention of sigining some 16 year-old, Senior out of Charlotte who would be a major coup for the program. In addition, there was a big man he was hopeful on signing, but acknowledged there were other more prominent programs trying to land him as well. IMO, he seemed to be really excited about this year's class especially those two point guards.

A&T begins hunt for women's basketball coach
3-25-05
By Bill Hass Staff Writer News & Record
GREENSBORO -- N.C. A&T has started a search for a new women's basketball coach after parting ways with Saudia Roundtree.
Roundtree, 30, coached the Aggies for three seasons. She received a five-year contract when she was hired in July 2002. The remaining two years will be honored, an A&T spokesperson said.
A&T classified the departure as a "personnel issue" and declined to say if Roundtree was fired or resigned. Her last day was Wednesday. Roundtree could not be reached for comment.
The women's program has had nine straight losing seasons. The last winning record came in 1995-96, when the Aggies went 18-11.
In three seasons, Roundtree's teams went 24-61 and were 19-35 in MEAC games. This past season, after the Aggies started 0-4 in the conference and 1-12 overall, they improved in the second half to pull up to 9-9 in the MEAC and 10-18 overall.
A&T was eliminated by South Carolina State in the first round of the MEAC tournament, the third straight time they have lost their first game.
Roundtree was hired in July 2002. She inherited a program that had gone 13-74 in the previous three seasons and was coming off consecutive seasons of four wins.
Her first team went 6-12 in the MEAC and 7-21 overall and her second was 4-14 in the league and 7-22 overall.
Roundtree, a native of Anderson, S.C., played two years at Kilgore Junior College in Texas and two years as a point guard at Georgia. In 1996 she led the Bulldogs to the NCAA championship game and received the Boost/Naismith award as the national player of the year.
After college, Roundtree played three seasons in the American Basketball League, the now-defunct rival to the WNBA, before knee injuries curtailed her career.
Her first coaching job came as an assistant at Morris Brown, where she became interim coach in mid-December. ************************
If she was fired for misconduct, then we should not be honoring the last two years of her contract.
If she was fired for performance issues, then say so.
I'm tired of getting that same 'ol line from our athletic dept. when the latest coach has been fired.

How did Roberts and Powell get to A&T? Eaves has a rough road ahead of him, and if he loses next season he will more than likely be out of a job. Hopefully, he will survive by producing a winning program. I don't base my opinions on major college games. It is from the experience of watching hundreds of games in Moore Gym and Corbett Center as well as on the road to tournaments. Eaves is safe so long as he wins a few more games next season than he did this season. The fans, alumni and administrators all love the guy. Small is the one in trouble. Another season like last year from him might get him his walking papers.

Well the guys and the girls put up one heck of a fight tonight against Coppin. We haven't been able to win a lot of these close ones, but come tourney time we'll be a tough draw.

www.news-record.com/sports/preps/hsfb_dudsodur_120404.htmCorey leads Dudley into 3-AA title game 12-4-04 By Kellie Dixon Staff Writer News & Record DURHAM -- Dudley's Quinton Corey wasn't sure if he'd get the chance to play after twisting his knee last week, but the two-way senior made a difference for the Panthers during their 21-7 3-AA semifinal victory against Southern Durham. Corey, who spent most of the week in physical therapy, caught four passes for 78 yards and ran the ball 10 times for 73 yards. A defensive back, he snagged an interception during the second quarter. "I was just trying to make plays," Corey said. "We want to win states. This don't mean nothing. It's just another game." But the Panthers prepared for Southern Durham like it could be their last game. After all, Dudley remembered last season's 5-0 second-round loss to the Spartans. Dudley's defense pressured the Spartans early, forcing Southern ball carrier Charles Gamble to fumble in Southern territory. Defensive lineman Phillip Oboh recoverd the ball. "It really set the pace of the game," Oboh said. The Panthers couldn't punch it in. Their 21-yard field goal attempt was blocked, but the momentum was not lost. On its next drive, Dudley moved the ball upfield, primarily with the tandem of quarterback Howard Williamson and receiver Corey, who made catches of 9, 32 and 26 yards to get the Panthers in scoring position. Williams, protected by his offensive line, carried the ball one yard for the score. "(Corey has) been doing that all year," Dudley coach Steven Davis said. "Quinton Corey, Kennedy Tinsley, (Dominique) Midgett, Chedrick Marshall -- all those guys. They're seniors and we came in together. I told them if you'll trust, we'll have a good season." The Panthers could have a state championship season if the defense keeps playing the way it did Friday night. All this season, an undefeated Southern team destroyed its opponents with a potent running game.Dudley changed that. The Panthers (13-2) held Southern (13-1) to 115 total rushing yards. Usual threat Gamble was dealing with a nagging shoulder injury and finished with 29 rushing yards on 13 carries. Teammate Whittmin Reese picked up the slack and burst through Dudley's defense for 51-yard TD run. Oops. Dudley didn't let that happen again, and stood Reese straight up on his next carry. Southern was forced to open up its passing game during the fourth quarter. "We wanted them to do that," Davis said. "We knew they had a good running game. The passing game, we knew they just wanted to throw it downfield. We figured if we could get them in the passing game, we'd have a chance to stop them." Southern quarterback Kevin Atkins connected on a few short passes, but he only managed to sneak in one 40-yard bomb. After that, Dudley's defense took over, giving the Panthers' offense, led by Tinsley with 18 carries for 93 yards, to secure the lead. "All year we decided we won't let a team beat us passing," Dudley inside linebacker Dominique Midgett said. "They're going to have to beat us running. So once we do that, we're unbeatable."

I'm sorry to say but Dudley is about to run into Southern Durham this Friday and that should be all she wrote. I disagree. Last year the team won 5-0. The safety came from a special teams miscue. The FG came from a very short field off of an offensive unforced turnover. Essentially, Dudley shut that offense out. So. Durham also shut out Dudley's offense featuring Jamal Edwards. That's the problem we were one-dimensional. This season Dudley has a running and passing game and So. Durham won't be able to stop either one.

Seriously, we need to find the sorriest d-ii teams we can find and pay them to come to Aggie Stadium. If we don't, we risk starting off with a losing record. Another bad start will be very bad to our bottom line.
