This is one of the reasons I was happy when Hilton signed Cy Alexander. The man knows how to turn it on come MEAC Tournament time! Cy has won 5 MEAC titles. He is well on his way towards a 6th title. I sense and said so the last two years that the players acted like they did not want to play for Eaves as the season was ending. You can see why.......Cy gives you and shows you HOPE. "Jankeee, Stankee Mr..500 will get ya neck broke errrrrr time. Just think there were suim of us who were STILL sleep on Eaves' coaching talents. Shame, shame!!!! Out with the old and in with the new. Anybody that does not meet the "Aggie Gold Standard" in da future should come to expect to have their bags packed without delay. No mo half stepping cause we ain't going for it no mo.....I don't care who YOU IS and who YOU KNOW!!!!!!!

The full court pressure generated turnovers, took Central out of any off rhytum, and it took their "wings" away leading to poor ft shooting.

i was very surprised that central couldn’t handle our pressure considering they had plenty of time to prepare for it. we pretty much applied the same kinda pressure against them when we played them in durham. the only difference is that we missed our free throws then. but this time we made “close to” 70% from the line (about 68%) which still isn’t the best but its acceptable for a d1 team.
and i’ve got to give a lot of credit to the “wood”! didn’t score a lot of points, but did a masterful job handling the basketball under intense “pressure” from central. usually, i’m the first one to criticize the “wood”. but i call it the way that i see it and the “wood” was one of our most valuable players last night because he only had 2 turnovers despite having the ball in his hands the majority of the time he was in the game. the “wood” did his friggin’ job! he protected the basketball, minimized his turnovers, and he got the ball to the right guy. his stats last night won’t blow you away. but i’m tellin’ ya, the “wood” played an excellent game! proud of you man! coach cy has changed your game for the better. glad the “wood” still has one more year left.
i was also very impressed with coach cy’s substitution pattern. i like how he pulled “baby bruce” out of the game with about 10 minutes left after he picked up his 3rd foul. coulda left him in there, but coach cy knew “baby bruce” is still a freshman and would likely pickup that 4th foul long before the game was over. so he put upchurch in the game for bruce and upchurch held his own. played excellent defense, rebounded well, and had a key dunk.
wow! can’t tell ya’ll how happy i am today! i’m really gonna enjoy watching our aggies, both men and women, in the semi’s tomorrow at the scope...

Central overachieved this year. I ain't gonna take nothing away from them. They don't have much talent, but they play well as a team. When you go 15-1 during the regular season, you're doing something right.....Even Central posters said they though A&T was a more talented team after we lost to them in the M-M Gynasium.
I felt good about this game last night. Overall, I feel good about how the entire bracket looks for us. We've disposed of Central. Morgan is on Norfolk's side of the bracket. Hampton and Delaware State can both be beaten.
ONE FINAL POINT Unless you are head-and-shoulders more talented than opposing teams, it is hard to beat a team 3 straight times. NCCU found that out the hard way. Norfolk beat Bethune by one point in the regular season.......Neither Norfolk nor NCCU was head-and-shoulders better than the rest of the league. I still stand by something I said earlier this year - MORGAN has all the pieces necessary to be the league champion, and they've been playing like it for the last month and a half.
A&T still missed too many FTs - we were blessed that Central was bricking them worse than what they normally do. We can go the distance in this tournament, but not shooting 50% from the line.....

i really think coach cy and our entire team is now thinking “championship”. maybe not so after just beating famu. but now, its a new day. its now a 2 win season for a championship. for that reason, i really don’t see our guys having a letdown on friday. yes, i think last night’s game was a lot about revenge and respect, as well as advancing. but being 3 games away from a championship seems like a hundred miles longer than being 2 games away.
i bet coach cy is preaching “one game at a time”, just as he should be. but i’m confident that our guys are now feeling like an meac championship is clearly within their reach. i think prior to today after beating famu, their only focus was beating central. but today they woke up this morning and realized we’re only 2 wins away.
all they’ve got to do now is only concentrate on our next opponent and don’t make the mistake of looking ahead...

I agree...they shouldn't have a problem getting up for the game. The issue will be tired legs...hopefully that doesn't affect us or come into play. Tired legs will definitely affect free throw shooting. Other than that, I think the mindset is right, and if we make our free throws, we will be dangerous...watch us.
