hate to say it, but coach cy has won more tournament games in year 1 than eaves won during his entire tenure as our coach. wow! i saw ad hilton in the background at the scope with the biggest grin on his face that you could imagine... Interesting let me correct myself just a tad. i should've said cy has won "as many" tournament games in 1 season as eaves won during his entire tenure. eaves did win 2 tournament games, albeit they happened over 5 years apart. wow! maybe there's a jinx for meac host teams seeing that meac favorite norfolk got knocked out in their first round game. we know about that all too well. maybe its not such a good idea to be the meac tournament host school...

man, when was the last time both our women and our men made it to the tournament semi's in the same year? man, i had to pitch myself this morning! couldn't believe we actually advanced to the semi's! and hey, who knows? our men are in a pretty decent position. we're capable of beating any of the remaining teams in the tournament. we have a legitimate shot to win this whole thing! let's go aggie men! let's go aggie women! let's pull a "double"...

If there any more doubts still out there on whether Cy was the best pick (my personal choice from day one) for the job, that debate has been put to rest once and for all.
It has taken a while but he's finally gotten these kids to forget the past and put the team first. A&T has taken on the persona of a really confident team that trust each other on the court and they play defense like nobody's business.
Get some well deserved rest today and let's get ready for tomorrow night. Job well done.

Man...this was the most masterful job of coaching I've seen in a while! Cy's tournament experience showed throughout this game, but down the stretch is when Cy really nailed the birds down. He used every opportunity to talk to his players on the sideline to give instruction, his enabled him to save his timeouts. Cy also had some defensive wrinkles up his sleeve that he threw at Central down the stretch. Hilton really knew what he was doing when he hired Cy.
One of our recruits was at the game with his parents...I know that his dad was impressed with what he saw!

I loved the use of the press to throw NCCU off their game. I'm not really shocked that we won. We played NCCU well in both the previous meetings. Like I've been saying. The MEAC tournament is not out of reach for ANY of the top half of the conference teams. We just happen to be playing good ball at the moment. We hit free throws and its game over for most MEAC opponents. We left a lot of points on the charity stripe AGAIN last night. If we can go 75-80% over the next 2 games from the line and we'll be "dancing".
Stay focused and get to that championship.

Coach Cy: "They are a team that plays off of rhythm," said A&T head coach Cy Alexander about the Eagles offense. "You can't let them get into a rhythm offensively or you're going to be in trouble. Our game plan was to change defenses as much as possible." The Aggies looked at the Eagles three all-conference performers - Jeremy Ingram, Ray Willis and Stanton Kidd - has the biggest offensive threats. "There were times we were playing man and zone at the same time," Alexander said. "We wanted to zone Kidd and play man-to-man on Willis and Ingram." www.ncataggies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=24500&ATCLID=206757162

Upchurch came in and kept the inside pressure up after Bruce had to sit. He was 3-4 from the line. He had 6 Rebs, 2 offensive and ran like a Stallion on offense and covered the back on defense,
I think that Central got one dunk during a breakdown.
Bruce, a Freshman, has had a good tournament. Witter 8 Rebs 3Blks!!! 1 Ast. This was a low scoring game and it seemed like two heavyweights swinging while tired.

ROFL, www.nccueaglepride.com/podcasts.aspx?podcast=169"Cy didn't show any new wrinkles". What?, he out coached you dude! Then he brags about 2 conference loses. You didn't play Norfolk in the regular season and you barely won the first 2 games. Please!, LOL Only thing he said truthfully is that he knew they weren't a dominate team because they won a lot of close games this year. They were cocky and they got exposed for it.

That full court pressure really took Central out of rythum yep, and central better get that fixed by next season or else everybody is gonna press them. central flat out couldn’t handle our pressure! i haven’t checked the stats, but i’m certain they had a “ton” of turnovers. and talk about missing free throws? looks like the shoe was on the other foot last night! central could hardly buy a free throw. i’ve always advocated that coach cy do a lot more "pressing" because it suits the personnel we have. we have a team full of “slashers” and only one legit low post threat. so “transition” basketball suits our team better than half court basketball as long as we have the “quickness” advantage over our opponent. make no mistake about it. central didn't just barely score 15 points in the first half because they had an off night. they couldn't score because of our defensive intensity! and our defensive "rotations" were flawless! we rotated perfectly every time we trapped the ball! and it confused the living hail outta central! they simply threw the ball out of bounds several times because our guys rotated to fill the passing lanes after "temporarily" leaving them open. just a tremendous defensive effort last night by our guys...

They were 12 out 26 from the line and had 17 turnovers. They lost the scoring battle in the paint 14-2. Moton's mutants shot just 22.7 percent from the field.
It was all about our perimeter defense on their shooters and Witter rejecting everything in the lane.
Suffocating!
