I can understand his logic in wanting to bring in a couple of patsies to boost his team's confidence and give his players some extra practice, but I don't know if you can justify having a near empty stadium on consecutive weeks in the middle of September.
One game against WSSU or a team that people have at least heard of would easily eclipse the attendance figures of both the WV State and VUL games.
Right now the fans are talking with their wallets and they might be saying that they can't stomach these kind of opponents.
What do you think?

Year 2 it's o.k. Next year forward we should stick with one cup cake per season.

What happen to the I don't give a crap any more choice? Initially I cared (primarily for a program creditability reasons) but I came to realize there are extenuating circumstances involved with our program. Obviously we aren't a legitmate FCS program. I get the impression we are building this program for the long haul, and I'm OK with taking baby steps on the front end for back end success.

I don't think Broadway has over done it with the weaker opponents.
I have just one reservation, schedule a team that is a member of the NCAA or a legitimate collegiate organization which VUL does not. VUL is a club team or worst a sandlot semi-pro team.

Yeah, there's too many schools in this immediate area that would provide an easy W and might even bring a few fans.
No need to invent a patsy.

At least schedule someone the fans have heard of. ;D X3 if we gonna play a scrub team, lets play someone thats gonna draw more than flies. I know, I know people are gonna say that we shouldn't be dependent on visiting schools to fill the stadium, but with all the schools in NC alone (HBCU & PWC) i should have to scratch my head and go to Google to find out "WHO" our opponent is...

I'm not even going to name WSSU, cause we've had that discussion. But we also have the following: FSU Catawba Livingstone Elizabeth City Chowan JC Smith Wingate Shaw St Aug Lenoir–Rhyne Mars Hill Brevard
Just outside of NC that our fans would know: Virginia Union Benedict

Dont forget Campbell. I think they are FCS but we still should be able to beat them pretty good.

WVSU was available and cheap. Was anybody else on the list?
I'm not defending the scheduling per se, but I am acknowledging the fact that a lot more goes into getting an opponent to come to Aggie Stadium than just picking somebody off a list.

Good point, but that just goes to show you that we have to get WSSU back on the schedule.
We need them as much as they need us ... maybe more, since they can at least hope to get revenue from a couple of additional home games in December during the playoffs.
We will have 7 home games this season and half of them together could attract less than 30,000 fans.

I wonder what will be the sell job for the players and fans for VUL. I think Broadway will keep the players ready but these are 18-21 year old kids. I think the bigger problem is how does the AD sell this game to the public and try to get 10K. You just don't want to give a lot of tickets free since the season ticket holder will be mad but you don't want an empty stadium.

There is no way we can charge $25 general admission for this game. The stadium will have an echo effect every time the PA announcer says something.
I don't care how much the season ticket holders complain - you've got to announce a special rate of $10 per ticket and all kids under the age of 30 get in free, no questions asked.
