After seeing a no-show attitude towards NCCU Labor Day Classic this past Sunday, I wonder why in the hell did Renick made the athletic department give away hundreds of $1ooo's by playing NCCU in Raleigh instead of Greensboro. NCCU was in no position to bargain or play hardball. This past Sunday, NCCU so-called Labor Day Classic only drew 6,760 fans.
Also, most Aggie alumni did not see the light until three years ago.
A&T is the drawing power not WSSU or NCCU. Witness the 22,000 shows last Saturday. Last Saturday's game will be WSSU biggest payday to include WSSU homecoming.

Not to mention Central charged 30 bucks a ticket and 25 for students. That's highway robbery but we could get it, even as badly as our team currently plays. Winston and Central will pay money to watch us get drug.

We actually supported NCCU's athletic department for years through the Aggie-Eagle classic. There would be a handful of eagles on their side and our side would always be full. Yet, they drew the payoff of 100k every year. That's why NCCU and WSSU hate us so bad, because we have such a great following.

The article below shows why it pays to play your HBCU classic on your home turf no matter how bad the turf looks- see Bowman-Gray Stadium. Then maybe, just maybe you won't have to fly your football team and band clear across the country with fingers crossed hoping the promoters don't short the university on that promised $100,000 paycheck.
Wednesday, September 5, 2007 College-Football Notebook: WSSU's game vs. N.C. A&T made tidy profit
Exact figures won't be available until later this week, but Winston-Salem State's game against N.C. A&T on Saturday appears as if it will be a major windfall for WSSU. Athletics Director Chico Caldwell said he's hoping for a profit of at least $200,000.
"I feel real good about the turnout and about the atmosphere around the game", Caldwell said.
The game, a 28-7 WSSU victory, drew one of the biggest crowds in Bowman Gray Stadium history, about 22,000 according to Caldwell. Caldwell said that some fans had to be turned away during the fourth quarter because of traffic jams around the stadium.
"We just couldn't let anymore people in", Caldwell said.
"It was a nice problem to have."
The Rams have three home games left, against Hampton (Oct. 27), Delaware State (Nov. 3) and N.C. Central (Nov. 10).
"I heard even some of the naysayers who questioned our move from Division II talk about what a great atmosphere it was," Caldwell said. "This is the first year we ever charged for parking, so that helped as well."

A&T is the drawing card in HBCU football in the southeast region. If I was the AD, I would always have the first game of the football season at home like our sister MEAC school Norfolk State. The opening of the football season springs optimism and A&T is guranteed a crowd and a six figure profit every year for an opener. I would try to get the best drawing opponent as possible but in no terms will there be a home-and-home that gives away our first game of the season.
BTW, Norfolk State is getting paid $275,000 to play Rutgers next week and have already cut a deal to play Kentucky in football next year for around $225,000. Football programs have to generate revenue to stay competative on the field so A&T has to come up with games that will do just that.

If WSSU and NCCU plays anyone else other than us, they cannot draw crap. But as soon as we are on the ticket, they pull in the dough. WSSU will not get another showing like that this year.

Too late to correct that mistake. You have WSSU home and home now..guess it will have to be Fayetteville Sate , since you also owe NCCU a game next year.
