We ended up 9-1 for the season . We spent five weeks at No. 1 before dropping a 37-34 overtime decision to Tyler on Nov. 5 in the first round of the SWJCFC playoffs. We finished third nationally in total offense, averaging 513 yards per game with 5,130 total yards on the season. In 10 games played, we averaged 51.5 per game and have scored 50 or more points in five games but we are going to the Mississippi Bowl in Biloxi, MS this Sunday vs ninth-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs (9-2) This is a lest that I E-mailed to Broadway some time back: 2011- Fall Sophomore Prospects

Saabman, soooo many things worry me about juco kids.
Scholarship money for out of staters The likelihood they'll wash out after a year and choose to go back closer to home Academic ability (or lack thereof) Proper transferral of credits
With our APR, I don't feel we're in the position to look for anybody that could be thought of as a risk. We could probably be somewhat competitive with half the scholarships of our brethern, but I'd rather have a full compliment of nerds.

I can understand your worries. The list that Broadway has that someone posted is a outstanding list from some every good JCO's with strong academics and sports programs. Most of the Kids that we have leave with an AA degree in hand but like most JCO's we are a Regional Acceptance program. So it's not hard to find schools in this region that will transfer all of their credits if not most of them.( I don't know if a lot of people know that). So I understand your worries trust me!!!

I still think we need to establish a California pipeline but at this point, its merely a dream.

We have to remember that their are good players all over and a lot are right at your back door. The problem with bring in players from say Texas, California, are any far out of state player is what DOOMS stated. We don't have that problem because most of the kids that we get are referred to us from larger schools. To get their grades in order so that they can get back in school. Note also that A&T is located in the hot bed for high school football. If you look at the Region as a hold that area is loaded with talent and a 2 or 3 hr drive to the north, south, east are west you have even more talent. I have always believe that you look at home first for the players you need and then go after the others. We have a pipeline right in N.C. we just have to find away to get on it.

Today's comments on this page demonstrates why coaches hate to have alumni and fans involved in recruiting. You guys have watched some game tape, read a few stats and... bam, this 5'7" running back is the next Barry Sanders. And to prove this kid is a super star, you list the official college visits to Furman, NCCU, NSU, Tenn Tech and Wofford. Visiting ain't playing so don't get too excited because the kid had "visited" some colleges. Here's my suggestion... just relax, enjoy some TV and let Broadway do his job this year. Then after the first or second game next fall, let's talk about whether he knows how to recruit. And if he still has lousy players next season you guys can remind me that he should have recruited this 5'7" running back with deceptive speed! And by the way, I trust Broadway's ability to evaluate and recruit talented football players more than any of you guys on this site. Go Aggies! Never said this kid was the next anything. I just think its sad that A&T has historically passed on kids in their backyard. Example , Morgan had a QB from High Point Andrews and a RB from Dudley. Neither kid was even looked at by staff. Kid from Dudley took it personally and ran all over us for our Homecoming. Now this is one instance but there are kids on plenty of teams rosters that are within an hour of A&T and haven't got looks from our staff ( previous staffs )

True that The Professor. I remember one of the best QB at SCSU was from Greensboro and a Kid at FAMU also. We will just have to see how Broadway and his staff go's about doing things but also we have to look at the # of scholarships that we have in rebuilding this program. I have seen in most cases coaches will go the JCO rout to get on track and then return to the area kids when things get better as far as # go. It's going to be interesting to see how Broadway & Staff handles this Recruiting for 2012. I do know that he has talked to a # of players with in the city of Greensboro about attending A&T.

Official visits = offers. u can only take 5 offcial visits. Therefore, the kid will receive an offer when he comes on his visits to the campus.
BTW- Add Hampton and UCF to his offcial offer visit. Yes, I know all of this because the kid is good friend of my sons.
Also, the kid is NOT 5'7". Check his attributes out on Rivals. Numbers dont lie...

Also, did u guys know that best corner in college football is 5'8"? The Honey Badger for LSU is 5'8".
Ill take a team of 5'8" ballers with heart than a bunch of 6'0" ballers with no heart.
If you've ever played ball then u can relate to my sentence above. Some of ur softest ballers are 6'0' and above.

saabman,
How's your team this year and do you have some football talent you plan to send A&T's way? We got slammed 37- 17 by MCC. Just couldn't get them up for the game for some reason. that's one of the most "underrated" aspects of coaching! motivating a team, especially against an inferior opponent. and its not the easiest thing in the world to do. when i was coaching basketball, i would always save my best motivational speeches for the times that my team needed motivation the most. whenever we played an opponent that i didn't have to motivate my team for, i'd always let my team motivate themselves without my help. but for those games that my team really needed motivation, i'd pull out one of my best motivational speeches for that. i learned a lesson that you can't "consistently" give a team motivational speeches because after a while, they all start sounding the same and the team will begin to tune you out. that's why coach lee's speeches (when he was our coach) were great at first, but didn't work for the long term. one of my best motivational "tricks" that i only used on rare occasions that i felt my team wouldn't respond to a motivational speech, is i'd have one of my assistant coaches to come into our locker room just before game time and tell my team that he just heard our opponents in the hallway talking smack about how they're gonna abuse my team. and man, would their faces light up! all of sudden, now they're pissed with the other team because they felt they've been disrespected. and when the locker room door opened for us to go play the game, it was as if i had unleashed a packed starving dogs on some fresh raw meat! of course we never told them the truth, we just kept it as our own little secret... ;D
