so very true, saabman. personally, i like speed, i'm a speed guy. i'd even take speed over size, but would luv to have both. indeed receivers and rb's need that initial burst to create separation and let their speed take care of the rest...

(It is important to establish local ties )..How many local guys do you currently have on your team? (Under stand the game man....)...I will pass on that, How many 5-7 playmakers do you think you need to sign to go with the other 5-7 playmakers you have on the roster? I do not see too many of those kids on any MEAC rosters. As I recall, you wanted to take the little rb from Page that went to prep school( the one with the offer to Campbell) ......It would seem to me that you could recruit better. As often as not guys listed as 5-7 are not that tall and guys listed as 4.5 do not run that fast. (This guy looks like a "walk on" and we need some "scholarship" players. Let's recruit some big boys this time around.).....yes!!

No you recruit based on need and talent! Yes I did want that kid from page because the kid was a player. Some time it's not some much what you Read in some rankings post about a player It's more so a feeling that a coach gets when he sees a player play,The heart that he puts into his game. I don't think that some people understand it but people that have coached will understand. It's just one of the things you can't explain to people. Some times what looks to be a walk-on may turn out to be your best player (MILES) for one.

The rankings and numbers are just that in a lot of cases. It is important to have the measureables but that doesn't make a football player. Evaluate what they have done in the classroom and on the field.

It amazes me that a school that has recruited badly continues to second guess local kids who are available. I hope Broadway can change things here at my alma mater

I just hope that he gets somebody from the area. Because back in the day 1970 it was hard for A&T to get kids from the greensboro area. We felt that A&T didn't respect us as players so we looked away to other schools. I hope that is not the case with Coach Broadway???

i think coach lee recruited greensboro very hard. i think he brought in several dudley kids including ricky lewis and chris neal. i think its always good to place a priority on local kids because they're the least expensive kids to recruit. don't have to go on the road to see them play or visit their families.
but at the end of the day, if you can get better talent elsewhere, then so be it. kids with local ties are less expensive to recruit but a lot of them like to get away from home...

We have to be careful not to recruit D-II caliber players if you can do better. A 5-7 kid probably needs to be put on our standby list. If we only have 32 scholarships then I'd think we can be a lot more selective.

My thinking if we can get a d-2 kid that can redshirt, do well in the classroom and in society, and get better and be ready to go by his redshirt junior year, why pass it up? But ultimately, it's up to Broadway and company and how they want to recruit.

A 5'7" kid may not make WSSU Roster and they are D-2> YA THINK ? Will I have seen a lot of 5"7" kids playing at LSU,Bama, Oregon should I go on? ? all D-1 players . Oh Wes Welker D-1 and Danny Woodhead d-2 New England NFL. Welker didn't even get any offers from FCS,D-2,NAIA are D-3 schools, TT was his only offer because the coach saw something in him. Some of You need to get off this 5'7" junk and this D-2 or D-3 player crap because that dose not make a player. Any way I would just like to know what's the Difference between a D-1 player are any other player at the same size and Wt. Other then what someone thinks are the team that he plays on. SO CAN SOMEONE TELL ME. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW???

Again , its thinking like this is why we are in the situation. There are diamonds in the ruff everywhere. But of course , if a kid ain't a certain height and weight then forget about him. Lol. I wonder what some of your wives look like, Wonder do you have the same requirements for them

I trust that Broadway and his staff can recognize good players that will fit their system. I am sure that if a possible recruit is 5'7" or 6'7", it won't matter to them if they feel they can play and help us win games. And what does it matter what kind of players WSSU recruits, we are 2 different program with different needs and different situations.
