Are any of you AGGIES that are in the know aware of any football practice field improvments in the future. What are the chances we could get something like what the University of Delaware has right now? www.udaf.udel.edu/capital_projects.html

From my understanding, there are plans to lay field turf down where the team practices behind the softball field.

Wow, UD has that nice practice field with that isht press box their stadium has? I watched a game broadcast from there last year and the broadcasters were bundled up like eskimos and straight complaining the whole broadcast.

I have no idea if we have plans, but why would we put field turf on the practice field and not on the game field as well? That doesn't really make any since does it?

Our football practice field is a afterthought when it comes to facilities. The UD practice field is nice, but nothing beyond what we could have in Aggie Land. If we got some turf...and followed up with lights to my knowledge we would have one of the best practice fields in the MEAC and among east coast FCS schools. This would be an improvement that could have a big impact on our program.

That doesn't really make any since does it? i'd like to see field turf installed on the game field but that probably won't happen since our natural grass is as good as any and i believe it has an underground drainage system if i'm not mistaken. but putting field turf on the practice field would be very beneficial because it gets used almost every day and takes far more of a beating than the game field does. by this time of the season, its probably pretty beat up. but the field turf can withstand daily use much better than natural grass and would be in good shape year round...

Yeah, makes sense. Forgot about the daily use. Practice would need to be done first.

Field TURF is like a HIGH MAINTENANCE WOMAN except in this case it will be ever 3 years. Your looking at $300,000 to$900,000 to install and about $80,00 to $100,000 each in maintenance every 3 years for maintenance to replace any damage on the two fields.

I was told field turf would allow for Winter workouts with the strength coach. Currently, we have days that the practice field is too muddy for workouts.

The new Field Turf is a dream come true. Most of the High Schools in Tx have it installed and you can use it year round. like I stated the only problem is the maintenance every 3-4 years but other then that it's a must have for any sports program that will pay for it's self.
