007, it is hard to comment on how things are going in practice due to all practices being closed to the public. I was out their yesterday but it was hard to judge how they are coming along because they only worked out in sholder pads and helmets. I did notice that the players have a lot more "fire" in them this season as evidenced by all the fights that were braking out in practice. I witnessed at least 4 fights while I was out there. I was told that the same thing was happning in the morning practice. I don't know if their fighting means that they have improved but it shows me that they are playing with more emotion than last season. From what I have been told by someone that has been to most of the practices, the RB's are looking good, especially Chancellor, Ferguson, and "Speedy" Robinson. I was also told that the OL was looking better, even a few of the Freshman. Also, I keep hearing that the DL still has a lot of work to do to be game ready. They will have a scrimmage on sat. at 6:00pm, maybe then it will be easier to judge where they are as far as being game ready.

I've looked at practice closeup and last week's scrimmage and IMO we're equal to what we were in 2005 talent wise and superior at the skill positions than Small's last 3-8 team. The offensive and defensive sets are completely different so until we actually play some games it will hard to measure it against past teams but if you talking this year versus last year.....light years better and there is quiet confidence, a missing ingredient from 2006.

Matt Raysor from USC is looking for a home. He balked at SCSU because they don't have a degree in A-A Studies.
Maybe, we can lure him with playing time?

Actually, we refer to it as "relentless coverage"

Thrilla if they are having a press conference at noon. Why are they waiting until 6 to have the scrimmage. Don't tell me because of the heat. They could have had this in the morning.
6 is a long time to wait if I get there a noon.

Actually the temperature is expected to only be in the mid-80s tommorrow, so realistically they could scrimmage any time they wanted to. However, I've got some errands to run so the 6 PM start time works perfect for me.
