A&T Women Track Team receives APR award. Teams honored for top grades in Division I The NCAA is honoring more than 900 Division I sports teams for their high marks academically. The Association announced that 909 teams have earned Public Recognition Awards, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rates. These awards are given each year to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in each sport with their APRs. Through its innovative APR, which provides an annual scorecard of academic achievement, the NCAA tracks the classroom performance of student-athletes on every Division I sports team. Full APR scores for all teams, including penalties for low-performing teams, will be released May 24.A&T Women's Outdoor Track & Coppin State's Women's Tennis teams made the Apr Public Recognition List. www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/ncaa/resources/latest+news/2011/may/teams+honored+for+top+grades+in+division+i

what does the football score mean. is that an avg or is that last years score? It is a four-year average with rolling years (roll off the oldest year, roll on the latest year). This year's average is a 29-point jump in average from last year's average of 843. This means Lee's football team did a tremendous academic and retention jump in the 2009-2010 school year with a probable score of a number as high as 950 to make the 29-pt jump in average. In school year 2008-2009, the football team scored a 848 which gave a 4 year rolling average of 843.Look for a full written APR public report in June.

It should make a substantial difference by the rules set by the NCAA.

Looks like they have given us a conditional waiver. www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/ncaa/resources/latest+news/2011/may/academic+scorecards+keep+improving.......In addition, another seven teams faced a postseason ban but received a conditional waiver for this coming year. Waivers can be granted for a variety of reasons but generally include demonstrated academic improvement, active presidential involvement, meeting certain APR benchmarks and implementation of an APR improvement plan.
These teams remain subject to the postseason ban in future years if they do not meet their specific academic performance conditions or implement their academic improvement plans.
Five of the seven are men’s basketball teams: Ball State, Jacksonville State, Morgan State, Southern Utah and UAB. Two teams (Morgan State and Southern Utah) will incur other historical penalties, such as practice restrictions. The other three received full conditional waivers and do not appear on any penalty list.
The other two teams receiving conditional waivers are North Carolina A&T football and UT-Chattanooga women’s soccer. Both still face other historical penalties

Both still face other historical penalties so what does our waiver mean to us? that we're now eligible for postseason play if we meet our waiver conditions? or does it mean we're penalized a fewer reduction of schollies? can someone please explain the benefit(s) of this waiver for us? jazz, where you at?

The waiver allows us to participate in the playoffs for the 11-12 academic year should we be fortunate enough to qualify. Had we not made substantial progress, we would have a ban on post season play. Scholarships increase to 54 for the 11-12 academic year. Now we have to see what the 10-11 apr will be and that we won't know until the fall of 11.

54 Schollys...
Hmm...
Broadway can bring in some surprises. And if we keep this up, we can schedule a FBS game in '12.
