On March 31, 2007, during the North Carolina A&T Annual Spring Game, free safety Brandon Ringgold sustained an injury to his neck area severe enough to prompt several news reports. Ringgold is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound junior out of Aberdeen, N.C. Head football coach Lee Fobbs has released a statement concerning the player's progress:
"Brandon Ringgold is a courageous young man who has truly shown the character required to handle the ordeal he has gone through. I'm happy to say Brandon is up and walking around without the benefit of any canes or crutches. He is upbeat and excited about life, which is what you want to see from a young person. Brandon is still in the recovery stages of the injury, so he still needs your thoughts and prayers. The football staff and his family appreciate the love and well wishes he has received from the Aggie Family."
