How is it, that Greg Paulus that played point guard at Duke U. for 4 years can go to graduate school at Syracuse and still be eligible to play football? The reason I ask is, I know Hines walked on at qb for us this season and this can only be his last year...correct? Can someone explain or am I mixing apples and oranges?

I think you only get 5 years under NCAA rules. So with that I think this can only be Hines last year.

Yeah, Hines is a 5th year senior. This is it for him.

So, I'm assuming that Paulus is a walkon for Syracuse...

NCAA gives you 5 years of eligibility. If you DO NOT redshirt in 1 sport you can use that fifth year in another sport.
Paulus graduated from Duke in 4, so he enrolled in grad school at Syracuse and had 1 year of eligibility left in another sport.

But, he's still qb there...

This should be his 6th year...

Only 5 years for student athletes. He could play the fifth year, if he goes to a different school, plays a different sport, and enroll as a grad student. No 6th year for him. I believe I read somewhere that he is an assistant coach at Army or Navy (or some military academy).
Do some research on Mississippi's QB from Oregon. Find out what the NCAA rules are on him?
If Hines redshirted, he is done with eligibility.

Paulus is an assistant coach at Navy. I think he has a brother who is the qb at William & Mary.
