This may the 1st time I have seen the firing of a compliance officer covered in the news. www.news-record.com/content/2010/10/22/article/ats_ncaa_compliance_director_firedDarryl Hills was fired from his job at N.C. A&T this week, according to a university official late Thursday. "Darryl is no longer at the university," Nicole Pride said, adding that he was removed from the staff on Monday. No other information was available. A public records request for Hills' available personnel information has been made. Hills' job at A&T was to ensure that NCAA rules were being followed by teams, coaches and players in the athletics department. On Aug. 19, a student collapsed and died in an unofficial track tryout that violated NCAA rules. Students participated in the tryout without physicals. The NCAA requires physicals for students before they work out in tryouts, practice or play in games. Hills reported to Wheeler Brown, the former athletics director who was fired Oct. 15 by N.C. A&T Chancellor Harold Martin. Brown’s dismissal came nearly two months after sophomore Jospin “Andre” Milandu, 20, of Knightdale, died on Aug. 19 due to complications of sickle cell trait.

Come on, Gerald.
You need to say "as first reported by the Carolina Peacemaker".
That's what real journalists do when they report somebody else's scoop.
