How does everyone feel about Adams being promoted to D Coordinator.

Would have preferred to see a big name like Petty brought in, but I guess that costs too much money. At least Fobbs has stated that he will try to hire somebody to just coach the D-Line and let Adams concentrate on solely being a coordinator.
I would have felt better about the decision if there was anything in Adams resume that showed he's ever coached a decent defense. All his previous teams gave up a boatload of points and yardage.

Fobbs has shown so far that he will try to build this team based on finding the best talent that he can and fitting that into his vision of what the team should look like. He seems as if he has a vision of what type of player he wants for a given position and is seeking to recruit that. X's and O's become secondary to talent in that scenario.
The downside is that you live and die by your talent level. He believes so much in his scheme that until he gets the players, the coaches will be using the same scheme with the available talent. Now this is a similar philosophy that Eaves has in basketball and he is in his 4th year. We'll see this year how far it gets him.
As far as Adams is concerned, I think Fobbs believes that with better talent and more on field experience the defense will be fine. Adams is just "directing traffic" and making decisions on who plays where. And that would be OK in Fobbs' approach. I don't know that I agree but we'll see.

After the worse football season in A&T's history, promoting any of the current coaches is insane. Adams is not ready to be DC of our football team and why Fobbs did this is beyond comprehension. No way this is based on merit.
We need our new chancellor to start right now, because alot of things are going on at the university that needs some direction.

Considering Fobbs was hired as head coach and offensive coordinator with no experience at either why should we be worried? At least Adams has experience coordinating a defense.
I don't think I've ever heard Petty and "big name" in the same sentence. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard A&T and "big name" in the same sentence and saw it end up with a positive result. Big name generally doesn't equal "good working with nothing."
Congratulations to Coach Adams! According to the press release he has a lot of promising talent to work with and mold. I'll be looking forward to seeing the improvement under his teaching.

Given that we have been a long standing Div IAA football program and Winston Salem State was a middle of the pack CIAA team and their new increase in scholarships will most likely go to incoming freshmen should we expect a different result next Labor Day Classic? Should we expect WSSU to gain less than the 282 yards rushing and 357 yards total on offense? Should we expect WSSU to score less than 40 points on A&T? Are you having a hard time saying yes to all the above questions but this one?
It is a shame that so much will be riding on that first game of the 2007 season against WSSU.

Our first game is always like that. It tells us what the whole season will look like. It's been like that for years. It tells me that most of the core work gets done in the off-season, spring and summer. Don't look for any drastic changes during the season. Our in'season coaching is mediocre at best with Hayes, Small and Fobbs. I used to say so goes Central, so goes the season. Now I guess it's WSSU. If we lose, we'll have a losing season. If we win by more than 10, we'll have a winning season. Simple as that.

Maxell next season's first game has a little more riding on it seeing that A&T was 0-11 this season just finished and attendance dropped to 2400 and a sour taste in most people mouths. No Maxell, next season means serious business in every sense of the word as far as making money goes. To regain some public confidence the game has to be close. An A&T loss doesn't spells doom but the score must be close.

I'm willing to let the man do what he feels he needs to do and wait to see what how recruiting goes, spring practice and look at the retention and conditioning programs before I pass judgment. There's just way too many things that have to be changed in the culture and mindset of A&T Athletics, its financing, and with a new administration coming in, it would be premature to make too many assumptions on the future.

Would FObbs consider hiring back one of hayes's former defensive coordinators?

Not any time soon. He's already given the job to Adams.

If he gets the job done, Im all for it. As long as he takes the opportunity to learn game by game i think it will work out just fine.
