First off, I frequent the boards often and decided to join today..
What happened to #27(Wilbert Johnson), who in my estimation was our best defensive player the last couple of weeks. He didnt participant in senior day and I dont think i saw him playing at the SC State game in Charlotte?? Did he quit the team or take a leave?

The word is that he got kicked off the team last week for some undisclosed reason, but maybe someone else can post here and provide more info.

Supposedly he got into an argument with one of the coaches. He cursed the coach out. Coach Fobbs told him to clean out his locker!

At least let the kid walk out there with his family for senior day...he's given 4-5 years to the program, thats the least you could do..I also saw a big scene going on after the game at SC State w/ one our coaches cussing and attempting to fight someone....Will Fobbs tell that coach to go clean his locker out?

Lil' Will went West Charlotte on somebody a$$ and paid for it...I don't blame him, I'm pretty sure the coaches were failing in some aspect of their jobs and he was letting them know about it. Will gave 5 solid years to this shitty program and what does he get at the end, thrown off the team before his last game in his hometown. I was wondering what was up when I saw an old friend in the mall and they asked me what did he do to get kicked off

There's enough negative floating around as is.

I see 2-3 wins next season at this rate.
As far as the kid getting kicked off before the last game. You cant have players cussing out coaches and getting away with it. This aint the NFL! What else was he suppose to do? 0-9 and a player cusses a coach out. He just left you NO choice. You aint letting him play cause you might win because the season is over. You will be disrespected all next year if you dont throw him out.
Hayes through a lot of kids off before the last game plenty of times. Thats why we always looked so bad against SCSU after having a decent year. Hayes was not having it.

4XLAggie, if there is misinformation going on concerning this issue you might want to set the record straight for all of us - perhaps in the VIP forum.

I'm not trying to spread rumors but IF he got removed for cursing out a coach, thats "going West Charlotte" because teachers/staff got that kinda treatment sometimes...

Wilburt sat with me and a friend of mine at the last home game. My friend lives in Charlotte and is a close friend of Wilburt's family. Wilburt told him that one of the coaches started yelling and cussing at him because he was late getting to practice. I was trying to watch the game and I missed why he said he was late but he did not like how the coach confronted him. He said he was frustrated and he let that frustration get to him and said some things that he wish he could take back or done differently. He said he would not have quit and that he really wanted to continue playing but he knew he could not take back all the things that he said but that he wish he could have taken it all back.

If Wilbert is a senior he's got to know better than to come to practice late. The main thing we are lacking on our roster is positive leaders. As one of the few seniors on the team, he needs to be setting a good example.
One thing I could never understand after coming out to practice this season was the number of players who arrived late and left before it was over. I don't care what afternoon classes you are trying to take, nothing should come in the way of practice time.
Do you think Jim Tressel's players at Ohio State leave practice a half hour early or show up 45 minutes late? I hope Fobbs addresses that next year.

Thrilla, I am going to do a "Doomsday" on you. What you have stated above is definitely a money problem that Fobbs and the players cannot fix. The athletic department is handicapped because of limited personnel to help set the players' class schedules to cut down on practice-class conflicts. If the player misses the class and he is already struggling with the class then who is going to tutor him at no cost to help the player catch-up?
The athletic department really need additonal personel but I don't think they have the money to hire all the people they need.
It is not simply looking at the time schedule. There are must have classes that are only given at certain times. If you delay the class to next semester you push back your graduation times by a semester or a year. Some classes are only given once a school year. The players need help navigated their way through this. We cannot blame the athletic administration when they are hamstrung with limited funds or blame the football player for being late because his class just ended at 4:00 pm.
