triad.bizjournals.com/triad/stories/2010/04/19/story2.htmlN.C. A&T State University officials are in the early stages of planning for a new school of architecture, an idea given priority by a recent study conducted for regional economic developers. While faculty members are already mapping out a possible curriculum, the formal planning is still at the point of gathering data to demonstrate the need for such a school, as well as industry and community support. Those are crucial elements for gaining eventual approval by UNC system administrators, said Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Kenneth Murray, as demonstrated by the rejection last week of plans for a School of Pharmacy at UNC-Greensboro despite more than a year of planning and many eager allies in the community. “We’re all still a little bit shell-shocked after President Bowles decision” about the pharmacy school, Murray said. “We’re going to have to think very carefully as we proceed to make sure everything is lined up just the way it needs to be.” Read more: A&T planning for new school of architecture - The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area:

A former professor of mine said we should have put in a proposal for a school of medicine. I thought she was nuts until she explained. There are so many hospitals in Greensboro and no medical school. Better to have the tech school do it than the liberal arts leaning school or one of the small private schools.
Still shocked that UNCG got turned down for anything.

Very close to UNC-CH and there is a need both in the West and Coastal region for such a program. Murray and A&T should not concern themselves with unc-g's desires (rumor has it that they too are or were looking at an architectural program...rumor only mind you) but look to starting new relevant programs (schools or colleges) designed to thrust the University into the forefront of the future.

A Med School would be great. It would be prestigious and may even provide wealthy alumni in the future.

Makes sense to have that School of Arch. IMHO, BTW, UNCG should have the Pharm. School. It made too much sense & they should have the Med School, if they ever plan one.

And can we give the School of Arch. a different name? Agriculture and Architecture are too close and I can see confusion happening.
