Maybe I'm a gluton for punishment or something, but I'm back at Aggie Stadium ready to give live updates of today's action. I can't promise that these updates will be as indepth as last week because frankly, I don't think many people are even reading them and secondly, I can see myself getting frustrated fairly quickly.
Glancing over at the scoreboard, I see that there are about 16 minutes until kickoff and right now the crowd seems less than last week. I guess not many people got wind of the family 4 pack promotion.
We are going to need some serious walk-up traffic at the ticket window to match the announced attendance of 8400 that we had against FAMU.

A&T (dress in the home all-blues) stormed out the lockerroom with a great deal of fire on what will be the final home game of the season and the last game period for the six Aggies seniors. Elon also came out with a lot of intensity and their fans appear to outnumber and be even to louder than ours.
Elon recieved the opening kickoff and their returner almost broke a long one. Thankfully he was stop on a showstring tackle at their own 34, where Elon would bring their first series. After a eight yard run up the middle by Phoenix running back Reggie Hall and a one-yard loss on a screen pass, Elon was forced to punt on the game's opening drive after their quarterback tried to scramble for the first down but was stop 1- yard short.
After the punt, A&T took over on their own 17.

On punts and kickoffs we should just kick the ball out of bounds. Seriously!

It took A&T only two plays to earn its inital first down of the game, and then, with a 10-yard run by Ferguson on the enusing snap, the Aggies found themselves with first and 10 again at their own 40. A&t, however, would gain only six more yard during the next three downs and Woodson came on to punt. His kick nearly stopped at the one inch line but the A&T special teamers were slow to recover it and it eventually bounced into the endzone for a touchback.

After forcing another Elon punt on the Phoenix's second possession, A&T began their next drive with good field posiition at their own 36.
A failed trick play on first down resulted in a 1 yard loss and Ferguson was then stopped for a four yard gain to bring up 3rd and 7. Campbell, however, would then connected with Walls in he middle for a 10 yard reception to move the ball to midfield. Two failed run attempts later, A&T again found themselves in third a nd long, and this time Campbell could not come through, overthrowing a wide opening receiver which would have resulted in another first down.
Woodson punt gave the ball back to Elon at their own 17.

Blue Death nearly forced another three and out on Elon's next series, but on 3rd and long Pope found a receiver wide open in the middle of the field to give them a new set of downs.
That conversion seemd to inginite a fire in the Phoenix offense. Soon there after, a 24 yard pass by Pope and a two long runs by T.J Clegg and Michael Mayers gave Elon first and goal at the A&T 3 yard line. Two play later, Pope would bulldoze into the endzone on a QB keeper to give Elon a 7-0 lead.
Elon 7, A&T 0
Scoring drive: 8 plays, 82 yard

Elon would quickly get a chance to go back on offense after forcing A&T's offense into a three and out. However on the ensuing punt, the Phoenix returner never gained control of the ball and the A&T defenders quickly pounced on it to give them posession at the Elon 33.
The Aggie's excitement would prove to be shortlived, though. Three straight runing play got the Aggies abosolutely nowhere and Barnhouse could not handle the snap on a quick kick attempt on fourth down, giving Elon the ball back at thier own 45.

Three plays into their next drive, Elon quickly found themselves at the A&T 25 thanks to a 20- yard run up the gut by Reggie Hall. A nine yard scamer by Pope and a short run by Hall gave Elon a new set of downs at their own 15, but Blue Death then buckled down and stopped Elon dead on the next two snaps. And intended pass in the endzone on 3rd and 11 fell incomplete and Elon's Andre Wilcox came on to kick a 34 yard field goal.
Elon 10, A&T 0.
Scoring drive: 11 plays, 38 yards.

A&t would go three and out yet again on their next drive and honestly, Campbell is looking like garbage now. Woodson, after about six weeks of solid play, suffered his first shank since the Hampton game, kicking the ball out of bouds at the A&T 39.
The very next play, Elon's Michael Mayers made A&T pay for that mistake, as he took a handout around the right end and was not touched until he reached the endzone.
Elon 17, A&T 0
Scoring drive 1 play, 39 yards.

Attendance is pathetic. From my prespective there might be 3000 people here. And about 1000 of those people are wearing Elon gear.

A&t managed two first downs on their next series but ultimately the Aggies' offense stalled out and was forced to punt.
Elon took over at their own 22 but it took only one 37-yard catch and run by Mayers to move the Phoenix back across midield to the A&T 41.
Five plays later, a two yard shovel pass from Pope to Mayer gave Elon its third touchdown on the contest and, for all likeliness, put this game effectively out of reach with less than a minute to go before halftime.
Elon 24, A&T 0

It's halftime and the score is Elon 24, A&T 0. Barring a miraclous comeback, my next update will just be the final score. I am going to spend most of the second half surfing the internet.
What a sad year this has been. I'm glad its almost over.
