part one. part twoThis guy was very impressive today. Look's like he is coming in with a definite plan and is eager to implement it. In part two, he talked at length about his views on college athletics.

He appears to be more in tune with the experience of the personal side of the athlete. We'll see as we go but right now he's saying the right things regarding the role of athletics and the retention and graduating of those student-athletes.

He came across like a real no nonsense type of guy. As a former athlete, I don't see him tolerating some of the things that have gone on within this program the last few years. For instance, I think he definitely would have intervened to prevent the Drew Carter/Chaz Truesdale situations.
I wouldn't be surprised if there were an immediate shakeup in a lot of different departments around campus.

Also, he stated that during his senior year at Springfield his football team didn't win a single game. I know that had to burn a guy who was obviously a true winner. He understands firsthand how it feels to having a garbage football program so I bet he will do everything in his power to prevent us from suffering that same fate in the upcoming years.

Student-athlete retention is part of a Chancellor's job. When you have players wanting to leave school because they are not getting academic support or because their position coach is trying to blackball them, then a good chancellor will step in and dead that nonsense.
He stated that he took a hands-on role when it comes to recruiting student athletes, so I assume he takes a similar role when it comes to player retention.

Chaz left school?

No. Drew Carter did. But if I was in Chaz Truesdale's position two years ago and had to deal with the petty crap he had to, I probably would have left A&T.

Yeah. I definitely feel you on the Drew Carter situation. I have a feeling that foolishness if fin to come to an end. It would be great to see 20 seniors a year come out on senior day to a full stadium and blow somebody the hell out. Now we might!

I think he could look like Michael Jordan's older brother he just gave up that last little bit of hair and shaved it bald...
I'm happy, I found out who it was last Wednesday so I had a little time to do some research, as far as I'm affected I'm hoping he looks at Journalism as the best kept secret we are, with his daughter being at Columbia for Journalism I think he might have a soft spot for us which hopefully means we'll see the financial dividends of it all...
As far as athletics, being a former athlete gives him insight and his time at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and having first hand seen how to make a SUCCESSFUL MID MAJOR program will make a huge impact (I dont think anybody mentioned that)
I think we made a great choice
