GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T is ready. In another impressive performance against in a MEAC contest, the Aggies recorded 23 hits and two more home runs in a 25-7 blowout win over Florida A&M Saturday afternoon in baseball action at War Memorial Stadium. The Aggies are 6-0 in the conference behind the might of a .369 batting average and 12 home runs against MEAC foes. All the success thus far will be tested next weekend when the Aggies travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to face perennial MEAC powerhouse Bethune-Cookman. The Aggies outscored the Rattlers 51-15 and have won their six conference games – all at home – by a total of 70-25. On Saturday, 14 position players earned a chance to play. Fifth-year senior James Howard led the way by going 5-for-6 with five runs scored and four RBIs. Senior George Hines reached base safely six times. He was 4-for-6 with six runs scored and two RBIs. The Aggies blew the game open in the second and third innings. Their second inning rally began with two outs in the inning. Make Nales walked and stole second, which led to Howard’s RBI double to left center field. After a Hines walk, freshman Dario Little blasted his third homer of the season into the grandstands in left field for a 3-run homer and a 5-1 Aggies lead. The Aggies kept the good times rolling in the third. Freshman Alex Grubb hit his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot to center field, to put A&T ahead 7-1. Nales would later score on a wild pitch, and Hines’ RBI single to left field gave the Aggies a comfortable 9-1 lead. Aggies starter Brent Moore (2-2) was excellent over six innings. He gave up five hits, two earned runs and struck out three in 81 pitches. Before traveling to Daytona Beach, the Aggies will make a stop in Boone to face Appalachian State in a Tuesday 2 p.m., doubleheader.

GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T baseball team continued its offensive onslaught against conference opponents with a doubleheader sweep of Florida A&M Friday afternoon with 13-4 wins in both ballgames played at War Memorial Stadium. The Aggies improved to 5-0 in the MEAC. The Aggies are hitting .327 in the conference with 10 home runs. They hit five more home runs on Friday. Senior Nick Rogers hit a home run in each game. Rogers (5-2) also picked up the win in Game 2 by going 6 2/3 innings and striking out seven in 105 pitches thrown. It wasn’t a great start for Rogers. Rattlers third baseman Derrick Shaw hit a two-run RBI double to right field to propel Florida A&M to a 4-0 lead in the third inning. Senior George Hines put the Aggies on the board with an RBI single up the middle that scored James Howard. The Aggies would get to within one before Alex Grubb launched a two-run home to right to give the Aggies a 5-4 lead. Home runs kept coming. Dario Little’s RBI triple to left field gave the Aggies a 6-4 lead. Rogers followed with a monstrous home run that cleared the scoreboard in center field to put the Aggies ahead by four. Lester Rivenbark would hit a three-run homer in the fifth for his fourth home run of the season. Little was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Hines was 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the second game. In the first game, the Aggies opened a 2-0 lead thanks to a first inning lead-off home run by Hines and a solo shot from Rogers. The Rattlers battled back. A double steal attempt led to an errant throw down to third, which allowed Shaw to score, while allowing Darius Washington to reach third. An RBI groundout by Osca Santalo tied the game at 2. A&T’s offense took control of the game from that point as Aggies starter Esterlin Paulino began to shut down the Rattlers’ attack. The Aggies used their half of the fourth to break the game open. With the bases loaded, Howard flew out to center field to score Grubb for a 3-2 Aggies lead. After Mark Nales stole second, George Hines was intentionally walked to load the bases. On the next pitch, Florida A&M starter Heath Blackburn hit Little in the forearm to force in a run. Rogers scored two more runs with a single to center field that scored Hines and Nales for a 6-2 Aggies lead. Santalo produced an RBI double down the right field line to move the Rattlers to within 6-3 in the sixth. But a 6-run Aggies sixth, highlighted by four different Aggies picking up RBIs, sealed the game for A&T. Paulino did not give up an earned run on the day. He went eight innings, striking out eight and walking three to improve to 3-1 on the season. The Aggies return to action Saturday afternoon at 1 from War Memorial Stadium.
