FAMU says they will EMBARRASS the LADY AGGIES!!

famu and other meac folks are talkin' an awful lot of trash over at meacfanszone! they're saying we don't have top meac talent anymore and that there's 4 or 5 meac teams that will knock a&t off this season. famu folks are even claiming they will flat out win the meac championship this season!

and worst of all, a FAMU fan even had the nerve to say they will flat out "EMBARRASS" the LADY AGGIES this weekend!

now, i'm not naive. i realize we don't have ab and btj anymore. and i realize we're suffering from injuries and the freshmen are inexperienced. but ain't no bibbs coached aggie team gone get EMBARRASSED by famu!! or any other meac team for that matter! folks are disrespecting our ladies on the meacfanszone message board. they think we're all washed up! but i've still got confidence in our ladies! and i believe our ladies will step up to the challenge at famu! (assuming tweet is healthy.)

we've played 12 out of 13 games "on the road"! we've only played 1 home game, but we're still a respectable 6-7. we played a very respectable and winnable game against a traditionally strong liberty team last night. not to mention that we "started" 3 freshmen last night and played without our leading scorer!

if we're close to healthy, i think this famu game is just what we need! we need a challenging game from an meac opponent to get our ladies fired up again! it use to be coppin, but this year it appears to be famu. don't get me wrong, famu will be extra "jacked up" against us! but i think mona will have something to say about that! and tweet will have something to say about that! and jee sams will have something to say about that! the whole team will have something to say about that!

yes, famu squeaked pass a couple of big name schools. yet, they only beat bcu by 3 points. they only beat alabama state by 2 points. they only beat savannah state by 3 points. they loss a preseason exhibition game to division 2 tuskeegee. in fact, "none" of their wins against hbcu's have been by more than 3 points except for division 2 albany state. so they're good, but they're beatable!

so go get 'em ladies!! shut all that famu trash talkin' up! prove to the rest of the meac that just because ab and btj ain't here no more, don't mean we don't have talent on this team! remind them that we kicked their azz by 22 points last year! and just because they beat a couple of big time schools, they don't intimidate us! we believe in you lady aggies!!!

Yeah, those Famu bamas are beginning to be worse than the NCCU bamas. Murdough needs to step and have a "break out" game. I believe if she ever gets in her zone, we will run the MEAC again this year. But oleschoolaggie, it's like you said in another thread, our ladies have that big bull's eye on their backs!

yeah, that "bull's eye" thing is the challenge that lies ahead for this team. and its a more difficult challenge than last year's challenge.

last year, we were "extra motivated" to win a championship because we'd let one slip right through our hands the year before. the bulls eye wasn't really on our backs that much because coppin had won the championship the year before and had been dominating the league for several years. so the target was mostly on coppin's back. it didn't seriously get on our backs until we ran off about 10 or 12 conference wins in a row and folks could see we were heading towards an undefeated season.

but this year's ladies must follow in the footsteps of last year's record breaking team! that's gonna be an "extra difficult" challenge to overcome. teams know how dominant last year's team was, and no matter whether we're as talented as last year's team or not, our opponents will still come at us as if we are. we're everybody's "#1 game" on the schedule! so night in, night out, our girls had better be ready to play their hardest or else we could be in trouble. we can't bring our "c" game, if everybody else is bringing their "a" game! if we only bring our "c" game, we'd still beat the weaker teams but definitely not the stronger teams. its very important that we compete "a" game, against "a" game. not "c" game, against "a" game...

I'm really not worried about FAMU because:
1. They were quiet as "church mouses" when they were not winning the conference..
2. Aggie WBB has the best talent in the MEAC, bar none!
3. Aggie WBB has the best coach in the MEAC, bar none!

FAMU and the rest of the MEAC should worry about playing the game on the floor and not on fan sites.

I really hope Tweet is healthy for this one (as well as the rest of the season)

But the Liberty game proved that this team is can still be strong even without one of our best players. I hope they bring the "A" game down to Tally this weekend. And I think they will, given FAMU's early success this season!

i honestly had plans to fly down to tally for this game. i figured it would be a bonus to get to see famu's new arena, plus the men play afterwards too. but after the terrorist threat happened xmas day, the price of airline tickets went through the friggin' roof! so i guess i won't be making the trip after all. hopefully it'll be steamed live on famu's website but i haven't checked yet...

FAMU is good, but not Ayantee GOOD!!! We will WIN this game. Its will be close in the beginnig but we will pull away at the end. The men will win too!

i think the key to the game will be our ability to contain their guards, rateree and mckelton. rateree is the point guard and she's a "lefty", so ya have to force her to her right. she's way less effective going to her right. but both rateree and mckelton are quick and they both can score. they both like to "penetrate" and both can finish in traffic. they'll miss outside shots if you've got a hand in their face, but they'll knock 'em down if you leave 'em open. the key for bibbs will be to cut off their penetration and keep a hand in their faces from the outside. i think a lot of their opponents probably "underestimate" rateree and mckelton because they're both rather skinny and if you haven't seen them play before, physically they're not intimidating. but that would be a mistake, they can both ball.

tweet and calvin will have their hands full defensively against rateree and mckelton, but they're both quick enough to get the job done and super sub, tierra thomas, is perfectly fit to defend either rateree or mckelton. tierra has the quickness to stay in front of both and she's a couple of inches taller than both. too bad we don't have reisha bullock available, she also has the quickness to stay in front. but if i'm a betting man, i'd bet that bibbs will give tierra a lot of playing time today for defensive purposes. she may even start tierra today.

regarding their bigs, i think bennett is probably a better scorer than donald. like rateree and mckelton, both bennett and donald are thin but quick. bennett is a "lefty" just like rateree. so if bibbs has done a good job scouting famu, she would be smart to overplay bennett's left and force her right, make her use her right hand where she's far less effective. this is where the health of deblanc is key. if deblanc is healthy, bibbs can go with a "twin towers" lineup to contain bennett and donald. she can match gorham up with deblanc who are both about an inch or so taller than bennett and donald, and they're both more physical than bennett and donald. and "if mona is healthy", she'll have a field day against bennett and donald. even though mona is slightly shorter than bennett and donald, she's way stronger and she's an experienced and very "savy" senior who would have her way "if she's healthy". that still leaves jee sams who appears to finally be rounding into shape. sams could do a lot of damage in the paint and from 15 feet out.

so we have answers for their key players but we'll be at a disadvantage because yet again, we're on the road and again we're the hunted instead of the hunters. i'm sure the rattlers will be "extra hyped" against us, but we should be use to that by now. should be an interesting game.
