Southern interviews Williams Grambling legend meets with Clayton
By LES EAST AND SCOTT HOTARD Advocate sportswriters Published: Dec 28, 2009
NEW ORLEANS — Former Grambling quarterback and coach Doug Williams was interviewed Saturday for the vacant football coaching position at Southern University. Williams, who is director of pro personnel for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, confirmed the two-hour, off-campus meeting with Tony Clayton, chairman of the Southern University System Board of Supervisors, before the Bucs’ game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in the Superdome. “There was no resolution,” Williams said. “We talked about the goals for the programs and all the things that need to be done. Southern University is a very good job, and for me it’s a chance to stay home.” Williams, who has a home in Zachary, said Clayton asked Williams to contact him when he was ready to talk some more. Williams said he doesn’t expect anything else to happen before Tampa Bay’s season ends next Sunday. For the rest of the story: www.2theadvocate.com/news/80172047.html

I hope that sombitch goes 0-22 if he gets the job. C'mon man, don't wish that on Doug. You know that fiasco wasn't Doug's fault. He was just looking out for his boy. I bet his boy won't get another recommendation from Doug. I don't see Doug going back to the sidelines.

It is not Dougs fault for the path of A&T football (during the Fobbs years). It all rest on Dee Todd period. When she could not get Doug to take the job, she should have moved on, but she didn't and that messed HER up from that point on.

...and she ain't do it by herself. Former Chancellor Renick and the Board of Directors signed off on that mess. Had any of them actually cared and had any sense, the hire would not have taken place.

Nah, Fobbs must've been the one with the Voo Doo, or Jedi mind trick. Obviously he made people see something that wasn't there.
Everybody knows you have to be present for the Jedi mind trick to work and that voo-doo spells can't be transferred from person to person. It has to be conjured for each person and Doug was long gone and probbaly didn't have time to collect the neccesary personal affects for each Voo Doo doll. ;D

Does SU even have the money to pay Doug and give him enough assistants? Pete Richardson was making around $205k but only had 6 assistant coaches.
