Multiple sources close to the situation have confirmed to Inside Carolina that Jerrell Rhodes was denied by University of North Carolina admissions and will not enroll at UNC.
Rhodes, a 5-foot-9, 192-pound tailback, signed with UNC last February. He was academically qualified out of Durham (N.C.) Jordan High, but prepped the fall semester at Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy with the plan to enroll next month.

Excellent running back, actually the best RB in the of Class of 2009 in the Triangle area. What I found out is that he might be a bit of a head case. Wanna be thug. I was high on us recruiting this kid last year(didn't know about the grade thing), but with our current running back stable I would stay away.
With that being said. I would hate to face this kid at WSSU or NCCU. He is an absolute beast! NCCU is the first place all the Durham and Wake County "rejects" look when they are unhappy or transfer.

Speaking of NCCU, remember the QB from Garner I was thinking we might want to take a look at that went to Navy. I again came back and said he was unhappy with Navy life and we might want to throw feelers out there. Weeeeeeell, he's going to NCCU. Confirmed yesterday.

My feeling and gut is Lee will talk to him and his family first, figure out where his head is at, and then make a decision.
A lot of kids and coaches don't mesh once the recruiting masks are taken off plus the student life environment for minority kids is a lot different at a UNC versus an A&T or an NCCU.
On the other, Navy or any of the service academies is not suited for kids who can't take that really rigid military discipline 24-7. Not surprising at all.
