We played them even in the second half but in both of the last two games we go down big in the first 5 minutes. We got find away to start a game.
I did not see this game but last night Coleman was calling for the ball in the post and the guards would not feed it in to him. whats up with that ?

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP)—Senior guard Jonathan Gibson scored a career-high 31 points in New Mexico State’s 84-68 victory over North Carolina A&T on Thursday night.
NMSU (2-3) led 40-24 at halftime and 52-32 early in the second half, leading from start to finish. A&T (3-4) closed to 59-54 with 8:45 left on a Tavarus Alston layup, but that was as close as A&T came.
New Mexico State outscored A&T 23-14 in the final eight minutes, shooting 16 of 19 from the free-throw line during the stretch and 28 of 32 for the game.
Robert Johnson led A&T with 15 points.
Jahmar Young scored 23 points for New Mexico State, and Hamidu Rahman had 12 points and a career-high 15 rebounds as NMSU outrebounded A&T 45-31.
NMSU scored the first nine points of the game as A&T missed its first 13 attempts from 3-point range. A&T was 9 of 39 from long range.

"NMSU scored the first nine points of the game as A&T missed its first 13 attempts from 3-point range. A&T was 9 of 39 from long range."
This thing has gone out of wrack. I understand the concept of shooting 3's as a first option but it is clear that the Aggies don't understand that it is not the only option and the only part of a basketball game. These guys need to watch film of the old UNLV Running Rebels days. Even Loyola Marymount may have played better defense with Hank Gathers and company back in the 90's.

Man, 57% of their shots were 3's. They even won the turnover battle (only 9) and the Hill and Tavarus only had 4 of them.
But you can't beat well-coached teams with this style. That's why nobody runs it. I know, I know (oldeschool), I'm not smarter than Eaves. We'll be middle of the pack in the conference, maybe finally win at least one game in the tourney, and look forward to next year like we always do.
There's nothing new here. I do love how Eaves' team play hard for him though! That shows that he treats them well and I can always respect that!

That's why nobody runs it. I know, I know (oldeschool), I'm not smarter than Eaves... naw, that's where you're wrong. yes, i support eaves, but that doesn't mean i agree with everything he does. unlike you, i'm "objective" with my views and i will criticize eaves if i don't agree with him. i've already stated before that a "run and gun" style as a first option offense will not win championships. i don't agree with that style of play, but i yield to eaves because he knows more about basketball than i do. i don't think it'll work, but i'll give him time to prove me wrong. as i've stated previously, i really think eaves used the "run and gun" style as a recruiting tool to get kids like witter and perhaps upchurch to sign. obviously, i don't know this to be fact, but i think he's locked into that style because he promised his recruits that's how he'd play. i mean, it doesn't make sense to go on the road and commit yourself to 23% shooting from 3 point land! it just doesn't. if you've got a steven rush on your team, i can see giving him and only him the green light to shoot a 3 whenever he feels like it. but we ain't got no steven rush on this year's team! i'll say it again, tighten your seatbelts folks 'cause we fixin' to go on a hail of a ride and it might not be pretty...

Sounds like Eaves was not disheartened by the loss: www.ncataggies.com/Mensbasketball/2009-10%20ARTICLES/7AGGIESvaggies.htmSECOND-HALF RALLY NOT ENOUGH IN LOSS TO NMSULAS CRUCES, N.M. – The North Carolina A&T men’s basketball team didn’t get the win, but it did receive a demonstration. The New Mexico State Aggies got 31 points on 9-for-16 shooting from Jonathan Gibson to down the North Carolina A&T Aggies 84-68 Thursday night at the Pan American Center. The Aggies were led Robert Johnson’s 15 points, while Thomas Coleman finished with 12 points and seven rebounds and was 5-for-5 from the floor. “I’ve said since the season started that I want to shoot 40 3-pointers a night,’’ said N.C. A&T head coach Jerry Eaves, who saw his team take 39 threes on Thursday. “We almost got there tonight and it helped us get back in the game. Tonight showed my team that if we get up shots, we can play with anybody.”NMSU’s lead swelled to as many as 20 five minutes into the second half. In between a Robert Lumpkins dunk, Johnson hit two 3-pointers for the N.C. A&T Aggies that reduced the NMSU’s lead to16. A Dwane Joshua steal and assists to James Porter ignited a 7-0 A&T Aggies run that cut NMSU’s lead to 56-47 with 11:09 to play. “I told my team we were going to adhere to our principles no matter what the score was,’’ said Eaves. “We kept shooting the basketball and we kept going after them the entire 94 feet.” A Jahmar Young 3-pointer put the NMSU Aggies up by double figures again at 59-47. But the A&T Aggies didn’t relent. Two Johnson free throws, a 3-pointer by Marc Hill cut the lead to seven. When Coleman found a cutting Tavarus Alston for a layup the NMSU Aggies lead was down to 59-54 with 8:48 to play. Lumpkins ended N.C. A&T’s rally with a turnaround jumper that turned into a 3-point play after he was fouled. NMSU eventually got the lead back to 11 with 6:19 remaining. But a Joshua three and a steal and layup by Alston got the A&T Aggies to within six at 67-61 with just under six minutes to play. NMSU wasn’t able to put the A&T Aggies away until two Gibson free throws gave NMSU an 11-point lead with 2:19 remaining. The A&T Aggies will end their southwest swing on Saturday when they face Lamar.

So if I am reading this correctly, the only thing Eaves was upset about was that his team did not shoot more 3-pointers.
