You're right Dooms. But it probably won't stop him from dissecting film or recruiting players for Maynor like he did for Broadway. He made Broadway at NCCU. Now Broadway is beginning to struggle at Grambling on his own.
I give him two more seasons there and they'll run him out of Louisiana all together.
Also look for someone like Melvin Spears or Asberry from Shaw end up at NCCU after they lose to Savannah State.
I think Rison is just one more bad loss away from being shown the door in Durham.

Dooms you right. That why Bighouse Gains had to give up his job as the Basketball coach to keep his AD job. But I don't agree with this being a bad move. You know a lot of people including myself thought hiring our FB coach was a bad move including Thrilla and others now it does not look so bad. If Bill Hayes starting to have a reputation of putting out fires as a AD. Starting at NCCU with Broadway, Florida A&M hiring Taylor look how those FB program had turn around. Hayes is becoming at type of AD where he put fires out. Because what he is doing is telling the chancellor if you want me to turn your program around and get alumni donation kick a$$ start it has to be done my way. I guarantee Reaves is allowing Hayes to run the entire show BC his back is really up against the wall. I was against them firing Blount. But maybe they need some new energy and new blood to come in. The players has loss there vision with Blount only winning one game this year. Its not always a bad move. I guarantee who ever Hayes hire it will be somebody who has already been a proven winner. I will not be surprise is Asberry or Kenny Phllips be offered the job. You all think I am crazy. Below is a good article I think shed some light on WSSU situation. At least I don't think its all of Chancellor Reaves fault. The Alumn need to put up with there giving or shut the hell up. Full article www.newsobserver.com/news/local_state/story/191065.htmlPart of the article About 7 percent of WSSU alumni donate money to athletics or academics. The national average is 11.7 percent, according to the Council for the Aid to Education. NCCU's alumni giving rate is about 10 percent, but is bolstered by corporate donations, an edge WSSU does not have. The result: Over the past three years, WSSU donors have given about $673,000 to athletics; in the same time period, NCCU has received $2.14 million, the difference-maker for a university taking on the added expense of a more competitive athletics program. "Private giving is the whole of it," said NCCU Chancellor Charlie Nelms. "We don't do it with public money." Though WSSU's financial picture is bleak, many boosters cried foul when Reaves scrapped the Division I plan. Dennis Brayboy, 57, says he donates money and has held basketball and football season tickets for many years. Now, he's so infuriated by Reaves' decision that he's in the market for a new favorite team. "It's just a big, bombshell mess over there," Brayboy said. "I don't know they'll be able to recover until they get that chancellor out of there." But Reaves insists he consulted with governing boards, alumni groups and other constituencies - in public - before making the decision. And while some students may lose athletic scholarships as WSSU returns to Division II, they will receive other financial aid in place of it. Reaves says more alumni need to put their money where their mouths are. "They're supporters of the athletic program in spirit," he said. "If I were to sit down and match the names of some of the people who have given me an earful with the donor list from the foundation, it wouldn't match up."

They both may offer but I can't see either one of them leaving Shaw or Fayetteville with what they have right now and with fairly new contracts in place to go into a veritable hell hole of uncertainity at WSSU with all it's budget woes, the administration's disconnect with the alumni, weak booster support, and with the future of their entire atheltic department mortgaged in major debt, Bill Hayes coming back as AD not withstanding.
What would they pay either of them with even if they did consider moving? Their next guy will probably be at 90K, no more. Remember Blount has another year on his contract they have to pay out.
If I am a successful proven head coach or coordinator, I certainly wouldn't be looking at WSSU right now especially when every one else will be offering six figures at the very least.
They, along with about 3 or 4 other HBCU football programs are about to enter into the "Fobbs Zone."

I remember back when the Cleveland Browns announced they were moving from Cleveland to become the Baltimore Ravens and started losing a bunch of games. They fired their coach and I said it was a bad move, considering what all he had to deal with. Seems slightly similar here. You couldn't expect them to win with no financial support and the division I announcement.
Oh yeah, the Browns' coach was Bill Belichek.

Trust me as crooked as Hayes is he will find the money somewhere. Think about this now that they back in D2. There budget can be cut back substantially. All of there basketball game with the exception of our will be played in Big House high auditorium. No more MEAC fees. Trust me Hayes will find a way to make money and offer a experience coach a sizable salary. Ashberry wants to leave Shaw badly. The facilities he has is twice as bad as WSSU. They dont even have a football stadium let along a locker room and junbone cam. Trust me he would go and it would be a step up.

Winston-Salem State:
FootballCoachScoop sources tell us that three assistant coaches; Kevin Downing, Sherman Simmons and Defensive Coordinator Mike Ketchum continue to handle recruiting and that he had a meeting with several players. According to our source Athletic Director Bill Hayes is very interested in Connell Maynor (Fayetteville State Offensive Coordinator), James Webster (former Parkland star/former coach at Tennessee State) and Joe Taylor (Florida A&M), who Hayes hired away from Hampton two years ago.

If I emailed football scoop that Hayes was interested in hiring Tiger Woods as the next coach at WSSU, there's a 96 percent chance they would print that rumor.
Those dudes do not fact check anything they get.

Bill Hayes has spent a lot of time answering his cell phone since it became known that Winston-Salem State needs a football coach. Hayes, who will officially take over as WSSU's athletics director Jan. 1, says he has been amazed at the amount of interest in the job. Kermit Blount, the Rams' coach the last 17 years, was reassigned to another department at the university last month for the remaining year of his contract. "I do know we had about 75 people apply for the job," Hayes said. "And for the coaches who have called me about the job, all I can say is there's an impressive amount of talent out there." Among those who have called are Pete Richardson, James Webster, Alvin Wyatt and Mo Forte. Richardson, fired earlier this week at Southern, was WSSU's head coach from 1988 to 1992 and had a 41-14-1 record in that stretch. He also spent six seasons as an assistant to Hayes when Hayes was WSSU's head coach. Southern finished 6-5 this season but was 134-62 in 17 seasons under Richardson, with five Southwestern Athletic Conference titles. Richardson's record in 22 seasons as a head coach is 175-78-1. Webster, a Winston-Salem native, is a former assistant at North Carolina and former head coach at Tennessee State. Wyatt has been the head coach at Bethune-Cookman, and Forte has been the head coach at Arkansas Pine Bluff and N.C. A&T. Also showing interest were Michael Moran, the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at N.C. A&T, and Conell Maynor, the offensive coordinator at Fayetteville State. www2.journalnow.com/content/2009/dec/11/rams-getting-lots-of-calls/sports-college/

Morand needs to focus on improving the A&T passing game.
I don't think anybody feels he's ready to be a head coach at this point in his career.

BTW: I love how Hayes is already having a lot of transparency with this selection process.
