In all fairness, ahhbigboy did say he didn't "know much about Deandra Davis". i'm not picking on aahhbigboy, i remained completely silent until he called me out. ya can't say in one sentence that you don't know much about a player, then in another sentence say she's probably missing a little something "solely" based on an article that says nothing of the sort. i'm just sayin'...

Look at it this way, if Coach Robinson thought she was good enough to offer a scholarship to, then this girl must have a tremendous upside. We all know he doesn't recruit "marginal" players.

One additional thing to consider is that her mom is a Coach. Her mom coached her AAU Team and has been hired as DeSoto's High School Coach. That being said, I would bet this young lady has a very high basketball IQ. That has to be a benefit in making the transition to the college level. Before signing with us she was actively being recruited by FSU and Baylor.

Diehard; I believe you are correct. I should have included Corbett in that comparison.

the thing i like about davis is that she does things that you can't teach. and that is the "desire" to rebound and the "desire" to defend (check her steals stats), just check out her video. if you give me 5 deandra davises, i'll win a championship because "great" rebounders and defenders cannot be taught. first and foremost, you must have the desire to be a great rebounder or defender. if you don't have the "desire" to be a great rebounder/defender, you will "never" be one.
give ya an example. the washington wizards has the top scoring trio in the nba (arenas, jamison, butler). but none of the 3 are known for defense. every year, no matter who the coach is, there's so much talk in preseason camp about placing the emphasis on defense. they hardly even spend as much time on offense. yet, every year they turn out to be a poor defensive team.
that's because you can't teach desire, you have to draft it or recruit it. and as long as the wiz kids don't have the personal desire to be great defenders, they'll never be a great defensive team. 22 schools were recruiting davis, not necessarily because of her 13 or 14 points per game, but because she has a rare and valuable trait that can't be taught...

I don't know much about Deandra Davis but I did some research on her this morning (as I often due in case oldeschool decides to attack, lol). Everybody is saying that she has extremely good size and athleticism but there are a couple of questionable (I wouldn't say "red") flags. This will give you guys some insight on why I seem to be more pessimistic than not sometimes. On her signing day, the article stated that VCU, FIU, Central Florida, and Alambama state were here final choice of schools which means that she's probably missing a little something.. so you figure she's missing something simply because of an article? obviously, you haven't seen this kid's video and a video speaks way louder than any article. if you've seen this kid's video and still question her ability, then you lack... oh, never mind. by the way, she was also recruited by baylor and florida state. in case you didn't know, baylor just happens to be a "national powerhouse" in women's basketball and florida state is the defending acc tournament champions. neither of those programs waste time looking at "marginal" players. but i guess you know more about her than baylor and florida state... First of all, where is the highlight tape? I couldn't find it on youtube. Secondly, was she "actively recruited" by Bayor/FSU or did she get a letter. Did she get an official visit or did they come to a game? I think you all might have recruited confused with interested. Say it out loud. A&T out "recruited" Baylor and Florida State. lol, unbelievable. Baylor is one of those schools where if they're "recruiting" you, then so is Tennesee, Rutgers, Purdue, and UCONN. Not A&T, Florida International, North Florida, etc. C'mon guys. Furthermore, who is the last kid that Baylor recruited that you couldn't find a TON of information on? ? That's like saying Eaves stole a kid from Roy Williams. And before you all get to talking too slick about Baylor, just know I personally know one of the coaches at Baylor. And for all of you that think that you're so smart, you dummies probably didn't even know she played the point at A&T!!!!!! I shared bus trips with her up and down the Eastern Seaboard for 3 years. I got her on text message, so I think I know more about this than you. Where is the video tape?

That was my point. Coach Robinson has an awesome eye for talent, so if he offered to Davis then she must be the real deal.
I think we are saying the same thing here.

She turned down VCU to come to A&T. Where does Robinson coach these days?

1. VCU was interested before Robinson got there.
2. Robinson got there.
3. VCU no longer wanted her. lol
4. Murray got her.
Make it out how you want too. If it makes you feel good that it appears T beat "Robinson", then so be it. But the next time you're hollaring at "ya girl", ask Murray how did he find out about her. lol Let me stop. You're right. "T" is the best. lol

Most graduates celebrate recruiting accomplishments by their school; not invent ways to minimize them. Since your logic is in direct contrast to ever published media report, I won't even bother to argue with you. LOL. There is no point in posting articles and links, because you have already made up your mind that A&T is substandard and that's just all there is to it. Wow. I guess the sky is falling and we will never be the same now that the greatest assistant coach in school history has left us. I'll just say "Robie Pride!"

I didn't minimalize the signing. I'm just saying the battle isn't what you think it is. lol
Greatest assistant in school history? hmmmmmmmmm Can you give me one better? lol
And I'll try my best to do a better job believing every published media report available. lol Talk about naive. It's your opinion though, and that is what this board is for.

This coming from the same guy who initially decided she was undeveloped by interpreting a published media report ... LOL .... and without even seeing her highlight video.
Wowsers!
Dude I get it. You and Robie Pride go way back and you think he rocks. He is the only reason you can live with in the fact that you had the misfortune of attending this pathetic university.
We will never be the same now that Robie Pride has left us, but hopefully we can try to make do with these all staters and Pac-10 transfers and DeAndra Davises of the world.
Woe is us.
